Hello all - it's time I face the truth!I am 37 years old, and I was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder probably in 2006 along with being diagnosed with MS. I can't even remember if I have told my doctors or my mother (whom thinks I'm not really depressed).
I am one of those people that stop my medication when I feel better, like I stay in that good place. I have taken wellbutrin and lexapro and they work when I take them. I stopped taking the lexapro because it was 65 buck a month and I am on social security, so I chose food over medication.
I started getting depressed in October but I ignored it, But then I got to the point this February where I didn't get off the couch, causing me to not to attend my classed.
So I have finally gone back my Psychiatrist and have been on wellbutrin 300mg /day since March. i also found therapist and see her weekly,be that seems to be helping.
I do have a question. Today, and this week I noticed that I felt like I was talking way fast and non stop, I have been up since 4am and I'm not tired yet. Feel like there is so much I could be doing, my mind is racing. Is this a manic episode?
Thank you!

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

But your only on an anti depressant? I dont think thats not good for us beepers...thats what could be making you manic. Has your pdoc ever mentioned a stabilzer?
Again welcome :-)
usually just being on an anti D will bring on mania.many of us have to be on an anti D and a mood stabilizer to prevent the mania.call your dr right away to get it under control. and dont go off your meds when you feel good!!!!!!
I will call tomorrow! The problem is I stop going to him when I feel better, so I was shocked that he would even want to deal with me.
The thing is the doctor only told me I was bi-polar and nothing about the illness, so I am clueless as to what it even is.Guess I need to look it up!
Took a zolpidem so I can try and go to sleep. The thing is I haven't ever sleep the whole night since childhood according to my mom, and from my sleep patterns as an adult.. My mom doesn't sleep either so I just thought it was us. Think I'm going to ask for a sleep study, it could be something else!
but I am gonna take action tomorrow!
It's great to see you're starting to work with your BP and not against it... It's a losing battle to work against it and it sure takes a toll on one..
There's a ton of info on the net about bipolar .. educating oneself really helps a lot... it does get better .. working closely with your psych is a good start..
Beepers is slang for BP'ers
Pleased to know you. What you described (no sleep, rapid speech) definitely sounds like hypomania or mania. Good thing you're going to check it out with your doctor because it definitely sounds like you would benefit from a mood stabilizer.
A beeper is someone with bipolar disorder.
You USED to be one of those people that stop medication when you feel better. You don't have to be that person anymore!
Glad you found us!
