I was feeling good on Sat. and Sun. I was doing stuff and feeling more like my regular self but then I messed up. I stayed up late because my son wanted me to watch a show with him. I haven't had enough sleep for 2 nights. On top of that, we live with his grandma and her toxic friend/boyfriend is around and upset me. Now I'm bad at square one feeling worthless, scared and paranoid.
There's more but I don't want to make this post long. Trust me, I have a lot on my plate.
I don't know how long it will be before I feel better. Nearly everything seems scary to me. Even doing something ordinary like cleaning my bathroom make feel anxious. I'm tired of feeling this way. I wish I knew the answer to what it is my brain is needing right now to rebalance. Instead all I can do is cry.
I know I'm not the greatest housekeeper but I do what I can. Being middle aged, I tire easier than younger people. I am a helpful person so I do help others do things.
I wish I had someone here to hold and comfort me when I feel this way.

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

Are you on any meds for anxiety? Can you get out of the house and go for a quiet walk? Sometimes I take Benadryl to relax me, it works.
I hope your day goes better. Stay on here and chat...get your mind off of the fears.
Hugs.
Sorry you're low on sleep but I hope you enjoyed watching a show with your son. Anyway you can sneak a cat nap or two to get caught up?
Can you describe the anxiety about ordinary things more specifically? What happens to your mind and body?
What's "middle aged" these days? Isn't that number going up and up all the time? Hang in there sweetie and hopefully you'll get to feeling like you did on Saturday and Sunday. Was there anything different about those days (other than being the weekend) that contributed to your feeling of well-being?
People on here have mentioned Sleepytime Tea...it is relaxing.
Deep slow breaths works too, but you need to do at least 6-7.
I hope something works for you.
Don't forget to mention to your pdoc the anxiety problem.
I'm on Metoprolol for it. Works very well.
I'm 46 so I think that's still considered middle aged.
Thank you everyone.
Hugs.
When that happens, I know I just have to reset (like rebooting the computer). My world has to completely shut down for a bit. I find a comfy spot, grab my blankie and sleep mask, and turn on soothing "spa" music (that relaxation stuff). I take a minute to acknowledge that I'm feeling chaotic. Then I visualize erasing all the chaos -- like erasing a chalkboard or a whiteboard. I methodically erase all traces of thoughts or ideas or situations that are contributing to the chaos. Then, when my board is clean, I "write" positive affirmations. I ponder for a bit and then slowly bring myself back to the present. I feel calmer, refreshed and ready to get back in the game.
It sounds goofy but it really works for me.
I'm older than you but I'm post-acne and pre-Depends so I'll run with it. Hope you're feeling better.
