Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

Once you get your list, mainly the rational fear list, take them 1 at a time, study them, think of why they scare you, was their a past event that started them. After you get to the root of the fear, then you can begin to learn ways to overcome it, by applying positive things that have happened in spite of you being afraid. And day by day, in small doses, meet that fear head on, while telling yourself, that "there's nothing to be scared of", "that you can do this."
Fear like any other emotion or symptom has to be worked through, gotten to the bottom of and then overcome. Not the easiest task but it can be done.
Think if you are fearful of something specific or fearful of so many things that maybe it's anxiety as part of BP and relaxation type exercises would be helpful. I have a DBT workbook that I find very helpful providing a variety of ideas for relaxation to find one that works best for you. If you are fearful about specific things, then following OlderCPer's activity will be very helpful. Ask yourself what you are afraid of and what's the worst that could happen? That works for most things unless you worry about world events :-). That's where the serenity prayer will come into play. Best wishes Jennifer!
