Churchill wasn't bipolar. It's an internet myth.

There are lots of lists that include historical figures that there is no real evidence for.

There are also lists for historical aspies and many of the people are on both lists.

Better stick to the ones that are more recent and have admitted it - preferably not at their trial or to excuse some stupid behaviour in some trash magazine.

Stephen Fry did "The Secret life of the Manic Depressive" and undertook a test which I think was done by some Cardiff statistician - I saw the same guy then test some b list celebrity. I'm not sure the tester is actually a psychiatrist.

It's believed Stephen, if he is bipolar is either cyclothemic or BP2. He is unmedicated and in a recent QI appeared to distance himself from any such diagnosis.

A couple of people who were bipolar who prabably won't mean anything to anyone here were Vincent Crane (Atomic Rooster and the Crazy World of Arthur Brown/ KIngdom Come) and Bob Calvert (Hawkwind).

I'm suprised no one has named Hitler -while there is lots of information on Churchill, all his letters are available, he wrote lots of books and lots of books were written about him - Hitler is a much more obvious choice.

He had delusions of grandeur (he wanted a 1,000 yr rule).
Lack of inhibition (he kept invading other countires)
Anger outbursts (watch vids of him)
Depression - didn't he commit suicide?

Pretty good evidence if you ask me.

(Before anyone takes this seriously - no I don't think Hitler was bipolar but there is alot more "popular" evidence for him than Churchill).

the woman who runs it and makes money is a bipolar lawyer with as far as I can tell no historical, medical or from some of the bloopers in her work, scientific training.

From there it then gets picked up and copied around the net.

I don't see how it's possible to pin a BP diagnosis on anyone who lived before the 1970s. I was diagnosed with manic depression in 1976 and BP as a diagnosis started being used shortly after. I'm not interested in what somebody, famous or not, is diagnosed. I'm interested in taking care of me. Of course some BPs might take comfort in being included in a list of rich and famous people and that's ok, but a much larger number of BPs have died in obscurity. Somehow I don't think suits most peoples' purpose.

To be honest Tommy I just wanted to start this thread to show what can be achieved despite bipolar.
I guess its for selfish reasons as i want to be able to turn round to myself and say these things can be achieved when I am having a bad day tyats all.

How about a complete lack of evidence? That the only "suggestion" of BP seems to be based on the odd comment here and there in the quite literally tons of stuff he wrote and people wrote about him.

And then that taken out of all cultural context.
