Not really, but I have had friends in the past, that I found out they told other people that they were my friend because "they felt sorry for me" or things like that. Needless to say, we aren't friends anymore. I don't need pity, or sympathy, I need a good, honest friend. They are kind of rare.

I've got a mixed family.. Some are supportive and some aren't. A big part of life is learning who to trust and who not to!

i agree with tommy- who to trust and who not to. i ve been in therapy for a long time which i think is just as important as taking my meds. ive evaluated my family/friend relationships and adore my supportive ones and have learned how to politely tell the others to F off and why. it helped me alot to tell them why i ddint want them around. and NOBODY is gonna mess with my disability income.

I have recently rid myself of some of my toxic relationships,but I have a few more to go. I do not plan on attending their funerals either!!!

I had a really toxic relationship with my father who was bipolar and had other issues as well. He's dead now. He doesn't write me letters to invest in his get rich quick schemes anymore. I am glad I don't have to worry about the stress that use to arise at Christmas and fathers' day and the occasional phone call out of the blue when he wanted to contact me for money for one of his "investments". I divested energy a long time ago his death (this sounds terrible) was a relief.

My name is vader and i am 62 years old and I am on ssdi.And this money isnt for the relatives.It is ours because I worked for it.At this state I cannot afford to even take a vacation...but remember help when you can and always put yourself first.I will tell you why I dont help.Number one...seattle has got private institution and donations that help people.We have DSHS.We have food banks and you can get food stamps if you qualify.You can also go to a support group and meet people who are in the same boat as you.So remember...there are people who can help if you dont want to get involved.vader from seattle.

My family doesn't really mooch off me. But they are quick to call me "psycho bitch". They also say things like "I'lkl never worth anything because I don't really have the funds to live a good life." So I pick my battles and don't talk to the ones that cut me down or make me feel bad. It's not easy. We all want that connection with our families. I have friends that are supportive and kind. You can't pick your family, but you can pick your friends. I'll be your friend and if you need to sound off- go for it. Hang in there!

Sometimes I think it's good to get on with family. Other times I think they can all fuck off. The rest of the time fluctuates between these two extremes.
My problem is being the ' via' route for them. So from now on I have told them to speak to each other directly rather than pissing me off as a go-between.

Yes , going thru that with mine, always blaming my sickness. My mother just sent me an e-mail one day balling me out because of my BP. Sayin anything about it hurts then-throwin it in my face is thier way of getting the upper hand, dont get me wrong i do love them they just dont need to hurt me daily. so i too dumpped them . They dont call or come by i get a email that has been forwarded to everyone she knows. It really hurts she wont even type a word or 2 of her own. Guess I wasn't what she wanted ...

Wish we could have them in our lives but its better off if we dont untill they learn to love all of us not just the parts that aren't broke..

My family does the same exact shit to me. Everything I do that they don't agree with is automatically because I am bipolar. They make it like I am not a human with emotions, it really frustrates me.

I had to isolate myself from family that can be abusive as well as a bunch of greedy ass users.

My kids remind my BP to quickly forgive me when I F** itup with them. I try not to abuse this though.

Of course there are others...but one finger is enough to keep them away. Yes, the middle finger.
