Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I volunteered to become the webmaster for Faith The Dog several years ago, after my wife urgently called me into the living room to show me a remarkable dog with no front legs walking upright on Oprah.
Faith overcame her disability, adapted to it and learned to get around anyway. She was happy. She inspired countless people, including me, to look at their challenges in a new way, with hope.
A key part of her story is that the Stringfellow family rescued her from her mother who was trying to suffocate her, and nurtured her. She didn't do it on her own.
She visited chlidrens' and veterans' hospitals. She visited schools. She greeted troops returning home. She visited USOs. For her service she was made an honorary U.S. Army Sergeant E-5.
Faith died last year, of old age, surrounded by cheese, her favorite treat. Her web site and books continue to spread her message.
In retrospect, I think that knowing about Faith helped to give me hope to turn my life around.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
