You know, if I was standing in the middle of the road, with crazy ladies nearly running me over, I would practice up on my hand signals. How the hell was I supposed to know what his signals mean?? Does that make me the stupid one?? I don't think so.

You know what else sets me off??? When you come to a four way stop, and you KNOW who has the right of way. Some cocky smart ass is going to start waving frantically for you to go first. I always just sit there until they can figure it out.

I work at a gas station. Our corporate office thought it would be a good idea that we have a theme in all our stores for the summer.

What theme did they decide on you ask? Why it was none other than road construction. I really hope it was the result of some highly mathematical computer generated report based on survey results and such about what's on drivers minds, but I know it's just because someone thought we'd look cute in little orange vests. This has got to be the dumbest, most out of touch idea I've ever heard.

You're not alone Jenn, nobody likes construction. Why we want our company to be associated with something that it universally hated is absolutely beyond me. I wouldn't mind wearing a "costume" if it were something that made sense, but they could have had us dress like Nazis and it would confuse and offend our customers just as much.

The only I do like about road construction is that it gives me an excuse to explore side roads and look at maps for alternate routes(I LOVE looking at maps!!!).

Jenn, if they are still blocking you today, you need to have a 'spell'. Yeah, right out there in front of them. You might could get one of them to go get your meds for you. Please don't go without your meds.

Sorry but I was one of those road workers and tho yes it is a pain in the ass to the public their job is dangerous. We lost 2 workers the year I did road crew and all because someone didnt want to pay attention to the SLOW & STOP signs.

We were allowed to throw sign if someone ran our line - I had guy run my line one night just before dark. He must have been in a hurry. I took aim and tossed the sign. It hit his hood and windshield and bounced off. He screeched to a hault and got out of his car yelling. I invited him not so nicely to drive back the direction he had come and inform my boss that yep I had dented his hood but not before he ran my line. He did just that and my boss told him too fuckin bad she didnt break the glass.

Had another dude come up on my line - mine was the 2nd stop so he knew it was coming. He hit the breaks going 60 and before I knew it I had a good car wreck on my hands.

Having hit the ditch numerous times because of drivers gave me an entirely different point of view of road workers

LOL also anyone that causes damage whether its to a worker or the work they are doing is responsible for paying for the damage.

We had some fucking idiot not stop and 20 feet later he found his car in not quite set cement. Total cost to him was over 3K as he payed for it to be redone and everyones overtime as we sat out there waiting for it to set.

Yes road work is inonvient at best but remember they are doing just what they are getting payed for and deserve to go home at night in one piece

I hate when road crews are outside. I live right across the street from a major highway and there are noise-absorbing barriers. The concrete on one of these started flaking off so the highway workers came to scrape the loose pieces off, but they didn't close the sidewalk - just the road. There were people walking and not realizing what the people were doing and debris falling from the sky. Not ideal.

I don't understand flag men though either. We passed a law here in MA that allows flagmen when police used to be required, but I live in a city and more often than not, road work detail is still done by police. I am grateful for that. :)

F'real Wiederkehrenrabe. Hate the work not the worker. I fucking hate it when people decide to bitch others out just because they're doing their job. It always reminds me of the scene in Fear and Loathing where the guy checking people in at the hotel is getting bitched at by the fat idiot customer and he imagines just calling him out on his shit. Then Thompson comes up all politely and gets his room right away while the fat guys wife is crying. Classic.

I also hate it when people drive like idiots.

Throwin the road signs was just one of many perks - I had a blast doing road crew. I would crank the tunes and converse with the cars as yes I felt bad that they were held up. It never mattered where we were in the state I made friends - we were stuck in this little piss ass town for 2 months 2 weeks into it I had this old guy decide he was gonna feed me nightly. He would have his wife make me up a plate after they ate, he would bring it out to me with a few beers and a treat for my lab an shoot the shit with me while I had dinner. I had people that went thru my line daily and as they got to know me I would find treats for the day left by my truck. But yes we had the fuckwads too and those are the ones the sign throwing was fun

Wiener, I think I just have a problem with MEN, flapping their arms and stomping their feet and screaming at me. Hell, I got a husband, I don't need it on the street. Of course, I respect the road crews. I always smile prettily and wave at them.
