Transitioning to a new therapist is a big deal and you don't need to make so many changes in your life all at once. Just thoughts.

That sounds a awful. I’d sure be upset too but I e seen a half dozen psychiatrists and the diagnosis is always the same

I have not been on very much. I just had triplets so my life is crazy but I needed to comment. First Kayla congrats on coming out as for your parents well it is their loss. Than as far as your new psychiatrist just keep an open mind. As for putting a diagnosis on mental illness it can be a long road with lots of different opinion just be open to new approach but just because one Dr says you are not bipolar doesn’t erase what other Dr have said. I would not worry about the diagnosis as much as if the meds you are given helps you or not. I have myself been diagnosed with BP than was told nope than yep you are…as far as I’m concerned they can call me the lady with four heads as long as my meds and therapy is working all that matters. Also if you find help and comfort on this site I’m sure everyone would agree by all means be a part of it. Just because someone de- diagnosed you doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye. Kaylab....alsmost all those things are just components of BiPolar disorder, except the PTSD and they're all pretty much treated with the same kinds of medications and treatments. So please do not feel like you've been doing all you've done for nothing. You were treating your illness based on the advice of your Psychiatrist's.

Its not always about the "labels" it's about treating the symptoms and what works.

You have 3 Psychiatrists who've said you were BiPolar and 1 who says you aren't after 1 meeting just because "he can tell". I can tell you that "gut feelings" or 20 minute observations are not accurate Testing Criteria for any Psychiatrist to use. So perhaps this guy may be making rash assumptions before he's even gotten to know you.

I think right now what you is support. Even those who find they are not actually bipolar tend to find support for the mood changes that often come with life in general. Taking baby steps and keeping in mind that you don't have to travel the unknown path alone may be beneficial to you. Just thoughts. Keep in mind, even if you do decide to leave the group you can always come back =)
