So a little over a month ago I had a manic episode that lasted a couple of weeks and I basically stopped eating. When i got out of the hospital and trying to get back into my normal life i realized that I wasnt getting hungry at all. I have been trying to regulate my eating habits for the past 3ish weeks, but nothing seems to help. I dont get hungry, I have to take zofran just to eat something becuase it makes me so sick, and I usually feel full after only a few bites. I know i need to eat in order for my meds to fully work and i need to stop losing weight but it is such a challenge. Has anyone experienced this? Does anyone have any recommendations?
Ill try anything at this point, i have pretty much been living off of almonds.

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

When you do solid foods, do several very small meals a day, do not try and eat 3 large meals, you won't be able to, it won't help, it will actually do more harm than good.
Try to stick to high protein foods, like the almonds you like, small meals can be a few almonds, a few crackers of some type to give you fiber, a greek yogurt maybe, some fruit or cheese. Just get yourself used to eating several small "snacky" meals a day, once those get easier and your comfortable with the act of "eating" then you can build up to bigger and fewer meals.
Since your eating so little, try to stay away from junk food and processed food. Try to keep the calories going in, healthy calories. If you prefer soft foods or if they go down easier, keep berries, banana's, yogurt, almond milk in the fridge and do smoothies. You can get a can of Protein Powder at the GNC store or Pharmacy, throw a scoop in and have your Protein and a nice cold Smoothie often tends to go down easier than "hard food".
If you like Peanut Butter, its a good food to eat when your doing small meals, has protein, works with crackers or celery. You can get creative, so your not eating the same 2 or 3 things each day. Popcorn is a good source of Fiber. Several type of Dry Cereal are good sources of Fiber, Vitamins, Protein and you can eat them dry as a snack if your not a milk person. I'm not a milk person.
Sorry I'm not trying to overload you. I'm not a food person myself from past trauma and surgeries, and now I take meds that wipe my appetite. And when you only eat a total of about 7 foods...you have to get a bit creative.
Feel free to msg me if you have any questions or think I might be able to help you in any way, I don't mind.
Take care,
Kat
I can’t remember what gets me eating again. Maybe smoothies?
Hope you’re feeling stronger soon.
