Does any one else suffer from dystonia?
My pdoc just put me on abilify and I'm afraid to take it. I have dystonia that effects my throat and tonge. I feel like I can't breath, I sound like I'm snoring even though I am a wake and other horrible things.
It lasts for about an hour some times more. All though I did notice that if I keep drinking water and walking around it can stall it for a while until the effect wears off. Still not fun.
Also when the dystonia will hit is pretty unpredictable. I've been sent to the hospital many times for it, and of course they don't do jack shit because my oxygen levels are ok according to them. But my throat litteral does shut and I can't breath every few seconds.
I'm terrified of dystonia.
Do you think it's safe to take abilify? He's started me at a really low dose. About 2.5 miligrams. I know that's really low.

The problem is I'm running out of options with medications.
So far I can take lamictal that's about it. Every thing else causes head aches blurred vision, ear ringing, the list goes on and on.
I take abilify and have taken a high dose of it at one point and it never caused that in me.....I'm on a low dose and do suffer from some facial grimacing....but I was told it's from long term use of AP's. I hope you find the answers you are looking for...ox
Dystonia is very rare so I'm sure not many people have experienced it. But once you get it from one psych med it's pretty much all of them.
But I did take it. So far so good.
