its been very difficult the past couple of days i have gone from manic to suicidal and now today i have just been wallowing in a pool of self hatred and deep depression also im getting pressure from my girlfriend about my religious belief or i should say lack there of boy i will tell ya its really hard to make this work i don't know im not sure what to do i love the girl with all my heart but this is really starting to bother me i am determined to make it work though im going to have to become selectively deaf i guess when she brings it up see this all started when i told her something that happened in church when i was a kid before i became an atheist and now she is convinced she can convert me back to religion because she thinks i had a bad experience as a kid and im simply holding a grudge against religion witch is not the case at all this is what was said "You had such a bad experience as a child with religion its messing with what's going on now
12:41 AM me: no it has nothing to do with my child hood i got over that a long time ago
12:42 AM her: I think it does... its affecting how you're seeing the bible and religion
12:43 AM me: no what religion has done over the centuries is affecting how i look at it
12:46 AM her: Things do that. People do it. Everything does that. There are dark times in religion but there is also not dark times. You have to look at it as a whole
not pick at it"
makes no sense to me at all somebody care to help me understand this?

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

I don't think the sort of thing you are facing is ok. While I've had a few debates with priests and such like anyone trying to put pressure either to believe or not believe is bordering on abuse.
Religion is a matter of faith. You can't choose to have faith.
Having said tht, this is one of a person's core values. It doesn't seem like a relationship could work with such a big difference. Although it does sound like u r being very respectful of her beliefs, I'm not sure a believer as a girlfriend would ever b able to leave tht alone. She's not trying to be disrespectful she is worried for you.
ok, well I can understand how someone can be religious so I guess I'm lucky I have that insight.
It's easy being an atheist - if you don't have faith that's an end to it.
"Everyone has their own opinion, and I respect Ur's even if we do not agree. "
Being an atheist isn't an opinion. You fundamentally misunderstand aethism.
It's a bit like saying "I don't know how a man can be gay". They just are and it would be great if the rest of the world could accept that and just let it be?
I'm lucky, I'm in the UK - it's much more atheist than the states and in the UK it is regarded as very rude to question someone's beliefs, whether questioning why they are religious, whether they are aetheist or of a different creed.
There is a thing called the Five Non-negotiable..
Your suppose to make this list before you date, so you don't get stuck in something, well that will cause stress and not love.
Most relationships can survive many different things - but core values, How to raise kids, life style etc - can fuck things up if their opposite.
Maybe you and your girlfriend can, even late in this game write down Non-negotiable, if one of hers is religion, faith, and bible thumping.
You might want to get the broken heart over with now, instead of later....
I have faith and yet have no problems of judgment of people that don't. It would not be a deal breaker for me, but if she is warming up and getting obsessed - this will only get worse (((((BIG HUG))))
Bipolar, heartbreak = rough patch! But on the other side, there is a rainbow. You cannot find who your meant to be with, if your holding on to the wrong person...
It NEVER - EVER- NEVER works to try to change somebody. Can you imagine the strife in the future? Unpleasantness for you both.
If you are trying to change each other's basic beliefs and characteristics, then you are not for each other.
Good Luck!!!
I would get out before she starts accusing you of having a devil or scheduling a laying on of hands lol. No seriously, I would end it.
So, if she cannot accept that you have your stance, then most unfortunately you might have to break up with her.
I have one person attempting to convert me to JW.
I have one person telling me that only Churches of Christ are correct.
I have a Pentacostal friend who tells me that only being baptized in Jesus' name will get me to heaven.
The best I have found is just to be a stupid Liberal Protestant mini-Quaker who minds her own business but still listens to the Bahavad Gita when I get psychotic. So there ya go.
She's got to understand that you have your beliefs and she has hers.
