Apparantly being BiPolar is "cool" it's the "in" disease. People use it as an excuse. My step daughter says it all the time. I'm BiPolar, she thinks it's cool and will make her popular.

I don't let things like this bother me. People are gonna say what people are gonna say. I tend to ignore a lot of things. it keeps me happy.

It would be nice if we could set people straight but like you I no longer have the energy. It takes everything I have just to get thru the day.

That very reason that you mentioned is the reason why I haven't told hardly anyone about me being bipolar. I know how mean and stupid people can be. I've lost many so called friends because of snide comments about my moods and depression. I backed away from them because of it. I didn't need those kinds of people in my life. Anyways, I'm rambling..........but sometimes its not worth setting people straight. Hope things get better for you!!

Im with you cresteddad, I cant stand it when people say i get mood swings so i must be bipolar, maybe they are, but still. If you think you are you go get evaluated. I think its stupid how people want to be bipolar cause its the "in" disease. They dont know what it is like to actually have it. I would do anything to not have to suffer a day in an average day of a bipolar individual. I hate it. Its not fun. Its not enjoyable. The high and lows suck. And because all the people that like to say oh i get mood swings im bipolar, there are alot of people that do actually have it and they get looked over. I even hate it more when people fake it, but in a way its also funny to me. If you go on youtube and type in bipolar you get idiots that film themselves acting stupid cause they dont know what it is like. They only read about it, etc. They dont live it. They dont have to deal with the moods, the loss of friendships due to they not being able to handle the moods. Or people thinking you are a freak. I am18 years old and my mom always knew something was up ever since i was a child. it wasnt too recently that i was actually diagnosed with it. I was not happy at all, i cried in the doctors office and said why me!!!I have learned since them to deal with it. (sorry if there are spelling mistakes, I am writting this on my internet on my cellphone, not as easy as it seems)

Yes I have heard people say that. Another annoying comment is when they say they have depression too and don't understand why my depression completely knocks me off my feet.

I definitely hate it too. There have been many times that people deny my disorder and just dismiss it by either saying that I have imbalanced hormones or by saying "just be positive". I know already that I have imbalances, but the "think positive" frustrates the heck out of me.
