I was thinking about getting a dog, but since I'm so BP I feel once I get the dog I may change my mind at this time I really want one and have two kid's that want one also.Does anyone have any advice for me?

A lot of work. I have three dogs which I got after my other three died. One was poisoned by some F***head.

Working on these new dogs but worth it.

I love my dog. My pdoc used to say it's a good thing for someone with mental illness because the dog forces you to get exercise and go outside when you are really depressed. The dog cannot walk itself.

I have always had dogs that were 2-3 years old and were labs or a a lab mix and small. They were great with kids and and learned tricks and minded. All the work landed on me no matter how much we tried to teach the kids to "water or feed " the dogs and they were good kids. Occasionaly they would help.

But then my sister in law and brother got a lab with an australian sheep hearder mix and the dog is awful. So you never know I guess.
I also have been house sitting for them sans dog for 2 weeks and feel like flea bombing their house I have come home e ver other day with flea bites.

I am all for dogs I think they bring comfort for kids.
Just pick wisely. I agree with W, little dogs are skittish.
