I facilitate a DBSA group every Mon night,it's great to help people toward recovery, I also do random acts of kindness for strangers and always try to educate people about BP when ever someone wants to know something about it.

Jeepman, I think that is great that you educate people on bp. That is something id I like to do more of. The public's conception of us is pretty swayed. I hear so often about how this or that person "must be bipolar" because of something negative they did. I think you are doing a good service.

I volunteer at the hospital in case management and social work. I find it really fulfilling. Helping non-English speaking folks find interpreters. Good stuff!

I'm going to start volunteering at my local hospital in about 2 weeks. I'm looking forward to it, but anxious too. I feel I'm in the right place to do this.

Because of my social anxiety I don't volunteer in the conventional way, but in my job I work in the medical field and I try to always treat my patients with the utmost respect and kindness and go out of my way to make their experience as stress free as possible.

I also try to help anyone who I hear needs it if it is something I have to give.

I do what I can for my Gran and Brother. Not really an Animal person myself. (I treated the dogs we had like s**t) But now I am trying to make restitution for my sodden ways as a kid.

I simply try to become the best darn me I can.

Being a paramedic I help others many hours every week but I still take the time to help when I can for people outside of work. Taking a shopping buggy back for an older lady, giving advice when someone is lost and needs help,.....just anything I can do. It seems cool to be able to help others and help yourself at the same time. I have found the more you concentrate on helping others in need the less time you spend worrying about yourself and it helps me with depression. I wish I had time to volunteer. My hat is off to all of you who do!!

I try to make another person's day cheerful. I'm talking about people I meet in stores, gas stations, etc. You never know what they may be going through.
At home I can be myself if I'm having a mood swing. But when I perk up I'm extra thoughtful & affectionate to my hubby.

Dobie, YES, our spouses and families - those are grrrreat people to help that I can sometimes overlook while in my mess, and alternatively, while trying to save the world, lol. A good attitude goes so far in our homes. Great point!

You guys are great and I can just see you bringing a smile to other's faces. My giving back is not so organized as volunteering,

I help family and friends fill their freezers each year with fresh fruit and veg and berries. (And their friends, in-laws, preacher's wife and her kids.) The more I give the faster the stuff produces. Truly a blessing and amazing how much can come out of my small amateurish hobby farming.

I tip service workers generously - It's a great way of giving back without embarrassing anyone. A folded $20 given with a smile and a thank you for helping is a blessing to me.

I donate crafting supplies and yarn to the senior center, household supplies to people trying to set up a new household and it's common for someone to "shop" in my freezer. Hand them a bag and tell them get what you want - I have too much and it needs to be used.

"I" don't like the way all of my deeds start with an "I" sentence. But my random acts really are about a blessing for me. They are done without fanfare or telling anyone all about it, just you guys and ya'll ain't talking.

No matter how crappy I may feel I make people laugh when I know they are having a bad day. I dont like to see others hurt. I also love to buy gifts for people. Even something small but something they need or have been wanting. I love to see how happy it makes them.
