Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I too have trouble getting up in the mornings. It is good to set up a routine, like get up, eat, meds, and something fun to start the day right and in a good mood. Fun is a need too, and we need to have fun so we can spread our good cheer to others. You don't need to feel guilty.
What helps me with guilt about being disabled and not working is volunteer work. It doesn't have to be much, just something that you feel passionately about. For example, I worked a walking horse program for retired/old horses and disabled children who cannot walk. They loved riding the horses because it made them feel the sensation of walking. They always needed volunteers to assist and spot the children. I only did it once a week, but it was very fulfiling. Now that I have trouble walking, I find other ways to give my services.

You bring such a smile to my face.
I will volunteer to help others very soon.
Thanks so much,

I get up around 8:30, and pull on my pajamas and weigh myself. That's depressing. Then, I come downstairs and turn on the computer. I check DS and my e-mail, and then check my to-do list about what I need to do for the day. I mess around on DS some more, take my meds, and usually either eat something or drink tea.
Jon leaves for work at a few minutes to 11, so my real work for the day starts then. All my work is on the computer. For example, today my work consists of reading about 200 pages and writing a small essay. Yesterday it was working on the article I am co-authoring. In between work, I take breaks, by surfing DS or other sites.
Around 7:30 I start making dinner, as Jon gets home a bit after 8. We eat a late dinner, usually around 9. I usually work for another hour or so after dinner, then we usually do something together after 10 or 11. Lately, we've been working on our wedding pictures, or we watch a movie, or have sex. We are usually in bed between 1-2.
Hmmm..after reading that, it seems like I need to get out more! :-)
My typical day starts about 6am when I get my kids up for school, make them breakfast and get ready for work. I work from 7 to 3. Then try to squeeze in a half hour of exercise. About 4:30 one of my kids have something to go to (like dance, their volunteer work, etc.) Come home from that and make dinner - eat about 6. After dinner I get an hour or so to do school work and try to be in bed by 9. This is my life for 5 to 6 days a week.
I always try to take 1 day to get caught up on housework and laundry and 1 day for me. If I can't get the 2 days, I'll split the 1. I have learned that I need to give myself the ok to do something just for me once a week. Without it I become tough to live with and often cycle.
It's so freaky the way things go sometimes... we met in a crisis center .. I have BPD and he has depression. We exchanged e-mail addresses and when we e-mailed eachother we found out that we were living 4 houses apart from eachother. So we talked in e-mail then we got together and enjoyed eachother so much we ended up living together. LMFAO now we are here both on computers together in one room HAHAHA!
This is fun :D
