If someone is delusional do they know rationally that the belief is untrue but can't help believing it anyway? Does it depend on how "far into it" they are? I guess what I mean by that last question is are there any kind of levels of delusions? Do delusions always mean that you are experiencing psychosis? And also I was wondering if paranoia and delusions always go hand-in-hand or if they can be separate from each other. Thanks for any answers! :-)

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

he may be having delusions as well but I suspect technically although it's a false beleif re the affair, it's not odd or improbable belief. Many people are convinced their partners are having affairs on the basis of no or imagined evidence and so I don't think they would be regarded as delusional.
re the acid trip - I think those do include delusions.
schizophrenia and bipolar doesn't have a monopoly on delusions - there are other causes as well.
it really does suck and when in it, we are living two different worlds and the really sad part is, sometimes we dont even stop to tell the others what we are living or if we do, sometimes we get laughed off. like its a fucking joke or something and we really believe the things in our head. they are happening to us, they are real.
"Morbid jealousy (also known as delusional jealousy, or Othello syndrome) is a psychiatric disorder in which a person holds a delusional belief that their spouse or sexual partner is being unfaithful.
An affected person typically makes repeated accusations of infidelity based on insignificant or minimal evidence, often citing seemingly normal or everyday events or material to back up their claim.
Unlike other delusional disorders, delusional jealousy has a strong association with violence and in some cases stalking behavior.
It can be found in the context of schizophrenia and delusional disorder, such as bipolar disorder, but is also associated with alcoholism and sexual dysfunction and has been reported after neurological illness."
So I know what it is that's going on but really nothing more than that. I was hoping that maybe some folks in here might have the knowledge or research skills to help me answer some of my questions about this. This is one of those things that I really don't know anything about other than the definition for this particular delusion.
