Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Chin up. That's the name of the panda..Chin Up.From China.
Personally, I just don't believe in unconditional love anymore= that's what you get from your Mom (or should) or God (if you believe). I think that we can make things conditional upon how we're treated. I just backed away from a friendship from someone who refuses to get therapy- he's a verbally abusvie addict and he has some great qualities but he expects people to just accomodate that. That's not realistic.
I hate to be harsh but it really depends upon how you treat people. How do you treat them? Is it something you would accept from them? If not, then it's time to modify that behavior. It is possible to change.
I just stopped cussing and swearing...for my son. (and this is going to be a hard habit for me to break)

When I am at a complete loss, the serenity prayer helps me a lot
God, grant me serenity to accept the things I can not change,
The courage to change the things that I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
or just HELP!

So if their requests are reasonable, especially if you think they would be positive changes, this could be an opportunity to grow.
We all have to change to accomodate people and reality at some point- like I had to learn to be punctual if I wanted to keep a job! I was late allllll the time. For years. It was terrible. But fear made me break that habit. Habits are not necessarily central to who you are, they're just habits. They can be broken.
From what I have seen, you are a person with a lot of style and pizazz.
Offline people are just weird--period, I said it. No matter what country you are in, of you are male or female--people are just weird-that's all.
The one thing that my screwed up self has learned over the past four years is that if the complaint is real-that is, if it is something that causes visible harm to myself or others (psychological harm that is-relationship harm-that I can see or is evident, then I do something about it.
If however, dear Shlay, it is that ignorant petty bullcrap that folks just say, then I IGNORE IT which is very difficult.
As for unconditional love, agape and all that, there are people in my life who have some very wild and strange preferences/ways/views and oddities, but I find that there is something about the person that is valuable, beautiful and special. With unconditional love, we find that whatever political, religious, psychologically strange or cultural thing which is exaggerated or weird or not to our taste is ignored-out of friendship to the other person.
There is a person who most recently has gone waay out there, but I love them dearly anyway because they are creative and fun and smart.
The ones who stick around and who help you and support you are the worthwhile ones, dear Shlay.
As it is said in the deep south 'There ain't a thing wrong with you!"
You have a friend here-in the southeastern United States and on DS.
I dearly hope that this crap passes. As I have always said, it is the folks between 18-26 who always get picked on and picked on and picked on, I guess because 'elders' can't always see that HEY I'VE GROWN UP...but we know.....
You are okay in our book!
Agape,
C.
