Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Just how do you control Bipolar?
With the help and support from your medical team, family and friends. I am a firm believer that a good doctor treats the whole person and BP is just one aspect of ((((YOU)))), however debilitating when out of control.
How am I a weak person? Anybody's Thoughts?
Are you weak or suffering a permanent injury? I think I have it right in saying my own BP was genetically latent and set off by early life trauma as well as subsequent history as opposed to caused by it.
That's why therapy needs to be integrative of different methods sometimes, because circumstances are unique in many regards and one glove does not fit all. I hope so very much you and your docs find the right mix or strategies to manage your illness better than ever.
All the very best wishes for you and your kin.
Yes this is a life long illness. I too have early childhood trauma and genetics, Every person in my moms family has some sort of mental illness. I haven't went yet to a pdoc or therapist. But I do need tons of therapy and meds
I only have 2 brothers left alive in my family and both said they have a life to live and to take them off of any emergency contacts. One has me on block after he told me off when I just got out of the hospital when my brain was numb and fuzzy. And the other is the one that I finally got a hold of today. I do have a husband and a uncle of 89 years old, no children. Everybody died. I lost 4 friend that were my neighbors and my mother died too, as well as my dog. It's been a long 3 years. And this place is all I have right now until I get into therapy. Thanks again MoobbusT.
You can't force people to take care of themselves. Believe me...I've tried. You're not a weak person. You're a sick person. Like me. And a lot of other people.
I think you're doing just fine. Keep up the good work!
as truly heartbreaking indeed and think the losses of family
to the grim reaper a tragedy of epic proportions to many people.
Salutations Dad! [I still have my mum]
Having living relatives withdraw their support would be difficult to come to terms with because some sisters love brothers [or are prepared to] a lot, and brothers often don't appreciate how much. Often the history gets in the way of seeing one another as mature people and being sympathetic. I am sorry that has been your experience. [If my rephrasing is correct]
Combine that with losing neighbors and friends!
...indeed you have had a very problematic time of it.
Here's hoping its all in the past.
I typed this long post and see you have moved on to sunnier ground before I have hit send. lol.
So it was all in the past! Well done!
Next time it comes back I hope I am around for a chat.
