Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I have a weird anxiety about confrontation, rejection, criticism and offending people, but it's sort of two-pronged.
Either my emotions shut off and become completely inaccessible, giving me this schizoid-like flat affect, or I have an anxiety attack, or an anxiety attack followed by my emotions shutting off.
Have any of you experienced this?
I guess it's just best to work on levelling my emotions under pressure. Having an emotional power outage is uncomfortable for me and creepy for other people, it makes me temporarily unsociable and in some cases has interfered with my relationships.
As a side note I'm deciding to go off of the pain medicine I take daily, Oxycodone. I've gotten it down to trace amounts, usually only a couple 5mgs a day, so I can dose in quarters or halves several times.
My goal is a quarter 5mg once in a while if it's unbearable, otherwise none at all. I don't have an opioid "problem" anymore but it is impossible to be productive on the stuff, and I'm wanting my pain tolerance back.
It's hard if for no other reason than the nagging everyday pains not being vanquished on the spot and you find you have a lot of time on your hands when your mind is clear more often than it isn't.
Also I came up with a personal little project o' mine, but that is for a separate post that will be done shortly.

I live in a town that's a bit provincial in its way and certainly a bit cliquish and snobbish. I cannot avoid interaction with all these folks, but I think they are often hilarious in their efforts to present themselves as superior to others. I don't know if I even want to be totally accepted in a society that I feel abandoned me and destroyed me emotionally as a child.
Some anti anxiety meds can help, although you have to be careful.
Also, DBT helps.I can't find the website, but there is a place you can go to get DBT "Instant Mindfulness" music that helps you relax.
