My answer re the depression would be to get her to go to her doctor - sometimes meds fail and they need tweaking.

Lying isn't associated with bipolar and I'm not sure about the "inappropriate discussions with others" means?

She has an appt with both her Dr and therapist. I was vague on my post due to not attempting to embarrass anyone. Let’s just say sexual discussions with someone other than me.

Is she Bi polar? That’s a great question. She has been diagnosed with different conditions depending on the Dr. Her mental state has been in question for about 20 years or more. First was Bi polar 2, then Manic Depression. Deep depression, you name it. What is the exact issues, I don’t know. She’s been in a mania thought process for about 2 months.

It's good that she's going to a see a doctor..... Getting on the right med regime will help..... Manic depression is another name for bipolar disorder

Hyper sexuality can be a symptom in a manic phase.... The faster she can see a psychiatrist the better.... A depressive crash follows mania

If there is any length of a wait to see a psych I would get into see her family doctor.....

I would have to say she is in the depressive crash now. That’s why she’s trying to get in to her Dr.

in my own world of mania, yes I had hyper sexual behavior, told lies to cover the shame of that behavior...and definitely depression follows as a result of the mania. If she sees a therapist, perhaps you could ask to visit with her, based on your concern and wanting, yet not knowing 'how'. Your wording will be important, personally I was Very Defensive and worried about someone crossing my boundaries...if not therapist, then maybe psydr. If you google where you live, search bipolar support groups in your area...that could help possibly for both of you..all the best....oh, I think there is a group on ds for spouses of bp'ers that might be of support too :)

Hi...I just went over to the 'family site group' and there is no action there for support. Was thinking if you feel your wife is "unsafe' due to her behaviors, maybe going with her to her apt would be beneficial for the both of you...and her dr would/might know of area groups. Also this time of the year also adds on more stress, expectations which might increase bp symptoms...Best to you.

Mlro853, we have talked about me going. She hasn’t seen her therapist in quite awhile due to the fact things were going ok. My wife has asked that the first appt she go alone so she can discuss everything we have talked about. My plan is to drive her, so if she wants me to join I️ will or at least we can talk afterwards regarding everything they discuss.

sounds good...still I want to let you know I have an adult son with autism, our agreement is for him to go first...usually apts are 45min...he has 30 then I have 15 for anything the 'doc' wants to tell me. Wishing you the best

If you have to wait too long and if you think she's unsafe I would just go to emerg..... I thought originally you meant you had a long wait for a psychiatrist not a GP...... If you can't see her GP either I would consider emerg if you deem it necessary

Thank you everyone that responded. Just wanted to update:
Had Dr visit this morning. She allowed me to attend. While I may not have liked what was said, it had to be stated. Dr listened, discussed the meds she’s on, took her off 2, added 2 plus tweaked dosage on another.
Good to hear, she has her therapist appt next week.
