I was just reading the above article and I can't believe there is another human being out there that finally agrees with what I've been saying for years!
I was actually trying to find a trivia fact about and old time actress (think black and white pictures here) who was really old and had a none leading role. But she was such a phenomenal actress that she stole the spot light from the leading male actor of the time! She was quite famous for it because it was so incredibly shocking back then and practically unheard of today! For an unattractive and old female actress to have so much talent that she steals the spot light from the male leading actor in a day when women's rights were just beginning and not well established. (if any one knows who she is please tell me, I've been looking and looking and I can not find it any where. I remember learning about her in school but I wasn't paying close attention back then so I couldn't tell you who she was or even what movie or who the leading actor was. Hey I was just a kid and never dreamed I might want to remember some day.)
But I came across that article and I agree with her. This is one holly wood trend that not only did it not die but it's actually far more extreme in today's society then it ever was historically.
But I also would like to add that now that twilight has proven to be a huge marketing success because of all the male eye candy I have seen a whole lot more catering to the female audiences desire for hot looking men. I think in the future we will begin to see the same industry standards being applied to men as women. (It's always about money in america and there is a huge market for women who want sexy men to have fantasies about. The idiotic industry is just now starting to see that.)
On one hand it would be a good thing to have more hot men to look at on TV and movies but on the other hand I know that it will never be a total requirement across the board for men to be good looking like it is for women. It's an absolute 100% requirement to be sex and hot for female leading role actresses no matter how talentless she is, if she looks hot she can get the part.
But on that other hand I was getting too, it's sad that the entertainment industry has become so superficial and shallow. And with movies like that new steaming pile of dung that's all kinds of horrible Transformers (dark side of the moon) still managing to make money despite it's shitty story telling and lousy actors, The only thing it has is good CGI other wise nothing even worth while wasting time on in there. If that is a sneak peak at what I have to look forward to in the movie world I am scared stupid! No wonder this country is sunk we literally settle for complete shit like that and buy it and eat it with a spork!
Once we completely only want good looking actors and actresses we will not get good quality acting, and the writing and story telling is already gone to shit, all that will be left in movies will be good looks and CGI. Only stimulation for the eyes and nothing for the brain.
(the writing has been horrible for a long time it's just that people don't notice because they have no taste. Black and white movies are still entertaining to me because they didn't have special effects like we do now it was require to have a well written story and well thought out lines. Now some of the things they have actors/actresses say on screen is down right hilarious. It's so shallow, pradictable and meaningless that my 9 year old ADHD son could have written better.)
Well just my opinions.
Any one else follow this or have any thoughts or ideas or opinions to add I'd love to hear it!
Just curious I guess if any one has even noticed this is going on, or not. I'm sure the average joe doesn't even give it much thought. As long as something entertains you that's all that's important right?
Well I do know people who just love their holly wood gossip and holly wood politics. I don't follow gossip or politics just movies and marketing.

This woman was skinny and her role was of a rich old lady. She has a butler who sticks with her to the very end when her wealth runs out.
I know the leading role was suppose to be a male role but she did her part so well that she stole the spot light right out from under him and it made her famous.
I think the lead role was a young man who was basically using her in some way but I can't remember.
