Christmas shopping?

i know this is a rough time of year for many. And I know at least a few of you are struggling financially. Just wondering who has been able to and amhas started Christmas shopping? I made my first purchases today. I ordered ID tags for both of my parents dogs. They have their names and our address and telephone number. Their nice ones too. I think on Tuesday I will go to the mall and buy some gift cards. I have a lot of bills to pay at the beginning of the month plus I need to put aside money. 


On the radio I heard about this church that have all of its members an envelope and inside was $100-$1000 and the pastor asked each person to used that money to bless the community in some way. A few people pooped their money to help another church member who has cancer. One person uses their money to buy needed items for the homeless. It was truly amazing. :)


anyway I just wanted to try to post something positive. I hope you are all blessed this holiday season.

Very light on gifts this year for financial reasons, but I am going to do some holiday baking and I’m hosting a very small get-together for the staff, pot luck style! I have to work on Christmas this year. I’m trying to enjoy it in small ways this year.

I struggle now that I'm on disability with extra money..... Not a complaint I feel very blessed.... I start shopping in the summer though... I don't do a lot … Just a bit at a time

I also work on Christmas. I volunteered in order to avoid any family get togethers. I will deliver my gifts and do exchanges in the eve. I am going to our candlelight service at church at six and maybe I’ll take my older nephews.

I do most of my shopping online. I've got the gifts for my Secretary and Admin Asst., done my Toys for Tots shopping and started on my oldest son's girlfriend. I send my youngest son money, the oldest hasn't figure out what he wants yet, will get his when he tells me. Then I bake goody boxes for all the neighbors and other's at work.

I'll be spending Christmas week in Charleston with Grammy so I'll shop for her when I get there, less to drag along.

I avoid the Mall like the plague this time of year and can generally accomplish all I need online.

Kat that all sounds amazing!! I’m getting gift cards for most people. I’ll let mom pick her gift from her favorite store. I am buying a $10 gift for our secret Santa at work and that’s about it.

I have 4 siblings, 11 nieces and nephews and 15 great nieces and nephews....we should do Secret Santa, but rarely does anyone get along long enough to do it.

I have no relationship with my siblings, but I do stay in contact with my Nieces and Nephews, its the main reason I use FB, I usually send them/their families a Honeybaked Ham or Gift Basket for Christmas.

They're all back in Texas, a place I left and have not been back to in a very long time, but they come to NC and visit every few years.

My family (other than my brother who lives in Tenn. and haven't seen on Christmas in a very long time) go out to eat on Christmas Eve day. Then we gather at my mom and dad's house for Christmas Eve. My boyfriend joins us. The adults don't exchange gifts (other than my parents who give me money, knowing that I'm constantly struggling financially). I give my great nieces and nephews $10 each and that's about it. I go to my boyfriend's mom's house on Christmas day. I usually get his mom a little something like a poinsetta (spelling?) or a bottle of wine. I told my boyfriend up front that I'm not able to afford to buy him a present this year. He's fine with that. I'll get him a thoughtful, loving card though. My boyfriend and I are going to do some shopping this weekend which will be nice (I'll be mainly shopping for cards though). I don't mind getting out maybe once for Christmas shopping (or the experience of it!). That's about it.

    Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
