I don't know why the other thread evolved that far. The question indeed was:
Could the chemical imbalance ALONE kill you without taking physical actions?
It is documented that, in the age before lithium, people frequently died of mania, presumably due to exhaustion. I got this from one of Kay Jamison's books. It takes a lot of mania, but it happened in asylums relatively frequently. If it could happed 100 years ago, surely it can happen today too, to some poor unmedicated soul.
So the answer is YES.

We disagree on some things.
You can educate yourself all you want but be very very aware of disinformation on the web.
Because there is a lot out there.
I mean just look in your meds and where it says mode of action: Unknown that should give you a clue that for the most part we are just labrats.
But if you think everything you hear is the truth then let it set you free.

With that said I believe that this disorder does have the ability to kill...Misguided perhaps but it is my opinion...
I am not cured because I do live med free and I still cycle the same as everyone else...there are no cures no magic bullets just time patience and the ability to evolve...
ALL BEEPERS..BRAIN DAMAGE AND CELLULAR LOSS OCCURS IN THE BIPOLAR BRAIN...MEDICATED OR NOT....MEDICATED BRAIN DAMAGE IS SLOWED SOMEWHAT BY BEING MEDICATED.
DENIAL ON THIS ISSUE IS FUTILE.
