Thank you all for your kind replies. As it turned out, the cats weren't trapped today,as I understand it the code enforcer and whoever is working with her need to buy the correct traps, called live traps. I had a meltdown today and started getting paranoid again. I'd been going to let "Evie",the caregiver,take care of Mitzi and the others,but that didn't work because there's no way I want to avoid contact with Mitzi and Maury now. The traps will likely be set Tuesday,I was told by the caregiver on duty. So tomorrow I plan to take care of my babies just as if nothing were going to happen. In that way,I can say my goodbyes. In my heart of hearts I know the farm is the only sensible choice. The cats keep going back and forth between their home and mine,which has given me fits because I worry about them getting killed by a car crossing the street. On the farm they'll be safe. And they'll continue to be fed; I had a mistaken thought about their continued care. Thanks for listening. What I'm more concerned with now is the bout of paranoia I had earlier today. I feel ashamed. In fighting the bipolar symptoms I'm becoming a little ragged. I know you all understand.

Hey! My cats went to a barn once. Well, my cat had a litter of 11, right after having a litter of 10... Sooo... my dad talked to this hospitality house, it's like an old hospital that was converted into a hotel, and they really needed barn cats cause they were on the edge of town.

I was so worried about them, naturally, 'cause I was young and all I could think about was some jerk kid from the hotel teasing them or even torturing them. But, when all was said and done, it was great. They sent us a thank you card, we got to see them every once in a while playing around the barn whenever we were on that side of town, and as far as I know, none passed by torture via jerk tourist kid :)

Thank you everybody who replied to my post. Update: this morning I got up and went over to feed Mitzi and Maury first thing. Then I saw the neighbor lady,whom I'll call "Debbie",and she asked me "Did you feed them already?" I'd asked Carla,my landlady,if I should feed them or not because I thought they'd be trapped today. Debbie had a small pet carrier in her hand,smaller even than the one I have. She put it on the stoop,hoping that Mitzi will come over and get into it,but of course Mitzi's too smart for that. As upset as I am,I did get a chuckle when I came home from doing some errands and saw Mitzi on her own porch,looking at the pet carrier and probably thinking "There's no way they're gonna get me in THAT thing." But the upshot of everything was when Carla noticed the look on my face (when I get rattled,it shows ALL OVER) and said "Laura,if I knew you were going to get this upset over that cat, I never would've told anyone about it." It may be that I can keep darling Mitzi and tough guy Maury. (I hardly ever even see Sophie,the mother cat,anymore.) I took a shower and I feel a little better (it's very hot and humid here today,so it's no wonder Carla's and my tempers flared). This has been hard for me what with my need for a med tweak (I suspect). And I'm getting worse. Just counting the days til my pdoc appt. on the 30th. Thanks for listening.
