Brain Stimulation Reverses Age-Related Memory Loss

Interesting summary of a medical journal study on the use of magnetic resonance to help reverse the aging process of the brain.  The team could only use this on certain parts of the brain near the skull.  I wonder if this could be used for bipolar, depressive tendencies...  Might be a treatment sometime in the future.

TMS Therapy is already used for MDD/Depression it's not FDA approved for BiPolar but is considered for severe Depression heavy BiPolar as a less-invasive therapy for med-resistant cases. Next step treatment would be ECT.

My doc wanted me to do ECT... told him no that seems a bit medieval.

The way they do ECT now is not medieval, or barbaric. or different than any other medical procedure. I have Grand Mal Seizures on my own that are worse than the ones caused by ECT.

Its done under General Anesthesia, Electroconvulsive Therapy is a way to induce seizures and activate certain parts of the brain, to provide relief from certain mental disorders when they become medication resistant.

I did ECT for 14 weeks, 3 x a week, every week. It was like going under for any other surgery or procedure, I have no memory or recollection of the procedure, didn't have directly afterwards, each time. It did put the Suicidal Depression into a Stable mode and make my brain become Medication Receptive again.

Its not something to be done hastily...usually it's more of a last type of Treatment, when nothing else works.

Thanks. I am chronically suicidal so this might be in the future for me.
