Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
BPD..is Boarderline Personality Disorder.A personality trait...it is usually not something that is medicated .It's like it's just part of your personality. Some people are narssasistic(self absorbed,snobbish..it's just them).
BP and BPD...
They are two VERY DIFFERENT things.
If you google Boarder line personality disorder, you'll find more info.
They have personalities that tend to latch onto someone, and raise that person to almost godlike preference...then as easily ,if they feel scorned..can turn around and hate that same person with all their heart.
I feel almost glad to be just plain old BP..at least there is hope with meds to live a stable live.
BPD,usually need years of therapy to come to grips with themselves, but don't often seek treatment ,because ,they don't feel anything is wrong with them.
Bipolar being organic.
BPD can stem from early childhood trauma.
Good luck with your search.

3)Bipolar's mood swings are cyclicle in nature like the tide. Cycles usually last for a prolonged period of time. Fluctuations in mood due to BPD may last hours or at most 1-2 days.
As with BP in order to receive a diagnosis you must meet most if not all the criteria.
As with myself. Issues of abandonment that result in relationship problems. Low stress threshold, excessive response to stimuli, self injury, etc...
BPD does not respond well to meds as it is behavioral in nature. Although meds may help with some of the more severe symptoms.
The best therapy is DBT or dialectal behavioral therapy. This mode of therapy was specifically designed for bpd.
Good luck.
For instance, have you ever met a person with BPD that didn't have a clinical depression or bipolar disorder underlying it? Those personality disorders just don't come by themselves. IMHO
We went to one of the site recommended and did the `Goldberg' test for BP and it came back positive. We've also done the test for BPD and that also came back positive.
Will use this info WHEN we get to see someone about it, past experience could be in a few weeks time.
She is currently on anti-depressant (amitryptaline) and anti-psychotic (Risperidone) at the highest doses the GP or (PD in USA) will do. But they don't any longer seem to be working and the GP agreed that last evening so is referring her to the psychiatric outpatient unit.
Just have to wait now for an appointment for assessment
Hopefully sooner than later.
Thanks again guys
