Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
We had a very small discussion on it on the way home
How does enjoying the act of spending money and shopping make me manic? I mean I am not the only person on the planet that loves to spend money, even non-BP spend money like crazy...
LOL
If anyone can list them I be the bitch that can. Yes (and I admitted this in the car some of your traits are personality but sorry my darlin some of them are cut and drived bi polar and you know they are on the days you do not claim you are pseudo BP instead of BP)
This isn't a debate about whether or not I believe today I am bipolar or not....It is simply a question as to whether or not things you say or the way you react is BP or personality.
Exageration - personality trait of mine not BP related
I know what the question is which is seriously why I was going to keep my mouth shut but SOMEONE said I should post lol so I did and then look I end up catching flack for it *giggles*I cuz I am stoned but shaking head cuz not all that stoned
But I firmly believe the bipolar disorder itself does not change our inherent nature in any way - it just Magnifies it, and we can go off many directions once That happens.
I am Never likely to go on a shopping spree even when manic, because it is not my Nature, but as a bipolar I Will forget about basic needs and responsibilities (like bills, or having a stable environment around me) and will Give Away all my money.
The problem lies in how we react to the bipolar chemical release that makes us feel like I Wanna Do Something Right Now!!!!!, you know? Spend money, make money, give away money...it's all part of the Desire to Get This Out Of My System Now, look at the pretty shiny building plans/shoes/homeless people, or what-have-you.
So it's part bipolar, and part Nature, in my mind. (We Still likely end up Broke) :P
My shopping is part of the mania, my gambling is just part of the lovely addiction gene two totally different things both at points in my life have gone unchecked and needed to be brought under control one yes very much BP related but never after blowing 168K (on gamblinb and shopping did I blame anything or anyone other than the guilty party and that was me)
I would say GTE that if you didn't have BP you would be a very giving person, but the BP takes over and you go overboard...Makes sense.
I'm almost always extremely easy-going, so when I'm irritable I chalk it up to the BP, if I stop to think about it. But what does it really matter? Since I can't be sure of what's causing it, I just have to attack it from every side that I can!!!!
Take the meds for the BP feelings and take responsibility for my actions. Well, not just take responsibility for them, but to not act on them in the first place. Just because I feel like doing something doesn't mean I HAVE to do it!!!
I don't make the best use of my time. That's what I should work on, no matter what's causing it!!!!
As to that Asperger kid, it might be a combination of the condition and his personality!!! He might have learned to be nosy by how he was brought up and he also might not be very good at reading the faces and body language of those whose business he's poking his nose into!!!!
