BP and recreational drug use

I think my symptoms intesified and became unmanageable as a result of my use of recreational drugs. At the time, I told friends it was like a door had opened in my head and I couldn't close it. Obviously, they though this was hilarious. Has anyone else had a similar experience of intensified BP as a result of drug use?

Meth is nasty, it's made from over the counter stuff and it's an incredibly dirty drug. You can snort it, smoke it, or inject it. Either way it's a terrible drug, I almost lost one of my best friends to a terrible addiction to this nappy drug.

said it before and I will say it again...BP and self medicating NEVER mix!!!

The only drugs we as people with BP should take are the ones we get from our doctor and only then in the exact way and duration the doctor prescribes them.

crystal meth is a powder- you snort it. very cheap and very strong. instant high, makes you stay up and talktalktalk or sexsexsex. It's gotten to be huge here. Used to be thought of as very 'white-trash' and for 'lowlifes' only, but now has moved into more middleclass circles, I don't know why.

When I was diagnosed last year, my doctor looked at me and said I can tell you with a reasonable degree of medical certainty that your bipolar disorder was triggered by my daily use of meth for a 3 1/2 year period.

It crushed me.

yes; i concur on the nastiness factor; a friend of a friend's mom was a dealer and her daughter was only 14 and had serious wrinkles! She's now a drugwhore (if she's still alive, that is...) very gross and destructive.

I will agree that it's nasty, I have lost several friends, nearly lost everything I had to this drug. It's bad stuff.

It changes the way you view everything in your life for the bad. You think you are okay, you think you're not hurting anyone. All that matters is the meth. It takes priority over everything.

I firmly believe my illicit drug use caused my BP since it involves the same neuro transmitters. I think I damaged my brain in some way with the toxic stuff I exposed it to.

Pot use makes me severely paranoid.
Alcohol makes me mean.
Any other drug I've tried just makes me sick.

my best friend after a wee hol in the nuthouse, was diag. schi..cant spell it, soz, they reckon drug-induced physicosis, smoking pot in a bong daily at 14..dont doubt it, but i kinda think perhaps there was something wrong in the first place! They ignore the family hereditory factor (her cousins more in than out)the drugs are the connection, poss to do with something that lies dormant?
