I have Bipolar disorder and many of my family members have had a mental illness. I am lucky enough to not have let it stop me thus far (completly) in working. I am actually working as MH case manager and am getting my masters in Mental Health counseling. I am in a group counseling class right now and my project needs to be a group - I want to do BIpolar but not sure what kind of specific group I should do? Females battling it is something I thought of but I probably might need to possibly be more specific than that - any thoughts?

You could do something like a DBT based group for females with Bipolar disorder. That might give you good research into evidence based practices and bipolar disorder.

I am also working on getting my Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, and am taking a group counseling class. We are required to create a group therapy project for our final grade. I am like you and wanted to do it on Bipolar, or even borderline personality disorder. My instructor advice me not to, because it sounds like when we will be doing our internship/practicum stuff we will have to have this group, and that bipolar and borderlines are hard group and as therapist we would need a lot of experience to work with them. anyway... that is why I am going to pick something else for my project. I haven't decided yet... but will be making my mind up soon.

you might want t study how stress and anxiety effect individual with bipolar. stress and anxiety is so common with so many people anyway. i think that those are triggers for the symptoms of many mood disorders. be glad to talk with you about your studies.

Thank you all for your comments - I do like the idea of DBT with Bp - I come from a person centered approach but DBT seems to be fast acting. And Kansasgrad I think this way - if AA is run by past alcoholics why can't I of a BP group? I don't know if I plan on divulging my illness until the end. I used to do it at the beginning of each course but now I await to see how it goes.

there in nothing wrong with a BP running a BP group... I am Bipolar, and borderline want to work with people with these illnesses. I was just saying my instructor doesn't want me to take that on as my project.... for my final...
and I might not do that in my internship.... not until I have more hours under my belt so to speak.... because someone who is only sober a day... doesn't run an AA meeting.

ther could be hullcations
adutioy or thought ther could be what type of cycling a person does due to weather or seasons ther could be after threapy ther could be before and after meds and what changed ther could be family history jsut to name a few not sure exactly what you are looking for or what you will be bias to so it hard to hewlp with out knowing more
