Can anybody with a bipolar child tell me how it started for them? I'm bipolar my self. And acording to the information on line she might be bipolar to. Please help.

I am getting my son to a child pdoc. I don't want him to live the nightmare I have and he is showing signs of depression.

The only way you can tell is to take them to the pdoc.
Try not to beleive everything on line. It is different for all children. So many are misdiagnosed right now. try to go into the pdoc with an open mind also because all they know is what you tell them...if you go in telling them you think she is BP ...depending on the pdoc...it could end up in her getting misdiagnosed.
JUst tell him her symptoms and he will figure it out.

My son is Aspergers, Dispraxic, Dislexic as I am.But I am BPI my psych says he does not need to be BP. We are similar its scary. Love him so much mad bad and dangerous to know thats him oh and me.

YOu need a couple if not three
opinions to determine if she really is.
OInline advice an a diagnosis is crap
Usually they are drug campany owned and the tests arent made to exclude a person. they only try to incluse everybody to get you in to a gemeral practitioner to buy their meds.

I wanted to add that my son is 14 and is BP ....he is now stable for the first time in his life.
The reason i am warning you is because when he was 9 they put him on adhd meds.
Which of course are bad for BPs. we went through hell for a long time because he was misdiagnosed...and it almost cost him his life.
matt is right get tons of opinions before you go ahead with treatment. If she is BP...meds will be neccessary...but dont put that out there ...let the docs decide.
