As it's Monday morning I'll answer seriously. A definate yes to depression/bad events specifically triggering a need for sex. I remember realising this when I lost my very first job.

When manic I have a huge sexual appetite.

When in the middle and I'm not on antidepressents I am only horny if the sun is up. Or down.

You dont have to be bipolar for that to happen. However, that is a classic symptom for me in hypo manic state. One of the great benefits to being manic. Woo Hoo. It can also be very dangerous if you havent learned to focus it properly. For me my main focus when I am like that is my husband. However, some have gotten in alot of trouble in their relationships and marriages by satisfying themselves through other means. Like affairs, online sex, and phone sex. Promiscuity is very common in teens with bipolar. It was for me. I would suggest you document your mood swings and behaviors so you can recognize them for what they are in the future. With my bipolar its a two edge sword when i'm manic,my sex drive is through the roof. or when i'm depressed i;m also horny but not in a good way its my mind is wanting to feel something also like cutting myself but like everytime all i do is hurt myself or others even more, just continuing through my downward spiral.

charity, if ur still checking this post, uhhh, i was so fed up with having no sex, well, had some of the kind where ur not actually with the person,, yeah,, Anyways... i finally couldnt take it today.. posted a topic about only needing men for one thing...
