Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

It sucks having bipolar 1 disorder but what sucks even more is that I passed it on to my oldest son. I see so many of the symptoms in him that I have and at 25 he is like I was at that age, he doesn't think he needs medication for it. But he does. He would feel better and would feel more normal. I actually just recently (due to being bedridden for a year) actually felt what a manic episode felt like. I had no clue that's what I was having and not having anywhere to put that excessive energy and all, I felt strange and for days or even weeks I'd feel very strange and awkward. I am so glad I got put back on my ability and remeron and depakote.

Which explains the mysterious fevers and my extra fatigue. I'm so glad I pushed for answers.

Due to my increased paranoia, anxiety, and a panic attack over the weekend, my psychiatrist has put me back in a full dose of Zyprexa until further notice. Every time I think I'm getting ahead something happens and it's back to square one. I knew he was gonna do this but I can't help feeling disappointed. It is what it is.

Their money and celebrity didn't ease the pain at all. So be pleased with yourself. I know that with my kids I tell them what helped me through my experiences and hope they make the best decisions. I wish you peace.
About all you can do is to continue to love your son and be available when he is able to understand. Self-insight is hard to come by for anyone. My parents did not have the education or the desire to understand my illness. They were in denial, which is a big part of their culture. I have suffered but suffering makes us more human and in some cases stronger. I wish both you and your son health, and along with it, as much happiness as possible.
Pass the meds. . .
I hope that your son will come to a point where he recognizes that he needs some help.... You can always remind him that there's great help available to him when he's ready to reach out for it.... Big hug....xo
