I am 47, been bipolar wince I was ten, my meds are stable, am having problems with life. I am on SSI, and have been on it for 11 years. I am having life stress from taking care of my father who has Parkinson's and my Mom who has another brain disorder called normal pressure hydrocephalus. Both depend on me, both have a walker and diapers. They really need my help.
The problem is, a codependent relationship on my part has developed. I do everything for them and end up not taking care of myself. I am eating once a day, and when I am not doing things for them, I am busy spacing out in front of my tv stewing in my pity pot. I have developed agoraphobia, so a counselor is not an option. I have medical issues, and I need to take better care of myself. Seriously, my health is suffering.
Anybody got any ideas?

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Remember you can not help them if you do not help yourself first. You say you are stable on your :): meds but from the outside it sounds like you are depressed. I do not know how often you cycle but maybe you need to look at your :): meds again.
Best wishes to you and yours and remember "Reality is for people who lack imagination. =)
I would call a mental health assoc in your state about help for agoraphobia or call your pdoc?.... You get your meds etc?
