No, BP1 has higher manic episodes and BP2 has Hypomania which is a milder form of mania.

who the hell is "Pluck"? there are at least 8 discussions dedicated to this "Pluck".

Basically - Bipolar 2 is a milder version of Bipolar 1.

BP1 is longer manias/depression than BP2.

Must be at least 2 weeks of mania documented. to be deemed bipolar at all. Then it goes on to how long your cycles are. Depression and manias. And how severe the cycles are.

Again - basically BP1 is harder to manage than BP2.

But neither is easy to deal with.

I disagree with the statement that BP2 is a milder form. While the manic highs may not be as severe the constant swings certainly are and can be very difficult. Let's not diminish the fact that all BPers suffer to the same extent regardless of the type they are diagnosed with.

jstreet - just so you know - that's why I said neither is easy to deal with.

I wasn't trying to say that BP2 is the better of the two to have. But - well from my standpoint (being bp1) it sure looks more appealing.

K - in either case I wasn't here to start a bp1 vs bp2 war. lol I was just putting out there what i learned in nursing school.

i will put my two cents in on this topic. I have rapid cycling bipolar which is neither 1 or 2 and I think by far it is exhausting going in and out of my moods on a daily basis. I can be manic for 4 hrs and then drop dead from crying and depression like I lost my best friend then in an hour I go into major rage because some one ate my last twinky. some times my cycles run for a day or two and then change for the most part. Again, being manic for 3 days and not sleeping a wink is exhausting then I crash and sleep and cry for the next 4 days. I am truley fucked up. maybe they should call this bipolar 3.

I honestly can't tell you the difference when i was dx it was bp2 with schizoaffective disorder...whatever that is. but lately i have been rapid cycling which I know is a totally different thing so, I don't know if my disorder is taking on a different form or what. we have been adjusting meds for the past month and still nothing is changing except that I expect it now I guess...so sorry can't really give u the answer you want but as I understand bp1 has full on mania and bp2 has hypomania.

The difference between bp 1 and bp 2 is like MEN going to the bathroom

bp1 = like MEN going number 1 with a hard-on, it goes all over the place and hard to clean up

bp2 = like men that are going number 2 while constipated. a lil more controlled but very straining and difficult
