I just asked my mother if she thinks I'm bitchy. She smiled and nodded vigorously.
Thanks ma...
I've often wondered whether or not I am, in fact, a "bitch". Some people think so, but seeing as there seems to be many ways a person can be viewed as bitchy, I'm confused as to what earned me this title.
I'm opinionated, sharp tongued and don't like bullshit, drama or lying, but I'm not a mean person. I don't throw insults around and try to be as understanding and fair as I can be.
Maybe it's because I'm sometimes too honest and tell it like I see it. If someone is being immature or throwing a pity party (which, yes I do as well, I'm no where near perfect) and asks my opinion, I'll often say that it's time to put on their big boy/girl pants and get on with things. I've gotten some nasty looks for that!
Dunno... but maybe being bitchy isn't always a bad thing?
Anyone else struggling with their inner bitch?
Thanks ma...

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I'll give an example of one of my latest "bitchy" moments: My sisters friend is dating a guy who behaves like a child (in my opinion). He rarely goes to work, not because he physically can't, but because he doesn't feel like it. He expects his girlfriend to support him, provide food and entertainment, clean up after him, even on occasion dress him. Meanwhile he often ridicules her and behaves like a full-blown jerk. His excuse is that he is severely depressed. He has not once tried to seek treatment or help with this depression.
The girlfriend is bitterly unhappy in the relationship, but refuses to end it. She makes excuses for his behavior, but often seeks sympathy from others because she chooses to stay with him.
I've know the two of them for several years and not once has this pattern of behavior changed. My response is this: the boyfriend needs to grow the fuck up and stop acting like the world owes him something. Yes, life may have handed him some raw deals, but it's been like that for everyone. Stop whining about how unhappy you are when you haven't done a single thing to change it, because when all is said and done, everyone is responsible for their own happiness.
As for the girlfriend, stop expecting sympathy for a bad situation that you yourself continue to stay in. When ever someone offers good advice, which she's constantly asking for, she ignores it, or gets defensive and hostile. At this point I refuse to discuss her relationship with her. I understand that bad relationships can take a powerful hold on a person, but there's only so many times I can listen before I feel like shaking the daylights out of her.
My sister thinks I'm too harsh, but I believe that everyone is responsible for the choices they make. Many things are outside of our control, but we do have a say in how we behave. It's normal to make mistakes and to be unhappy with life at times, but waiting for someone to step in and make everything all better in stupid and pointless. I won't get involved anymore, because I feel like it's a waste of energy.
So, bitchy or harshly truthful? Keep in mind that I've come to this opinion after years of watching this unending song and dance...
They also have them for the bacon lovers too!
In adding this Comment, I fdlstx, was trying to be nice...I mean...there's mints for everybody...g'head...have one.
Now I realize it's not my job to be the keeper of the truth. People usually already know their truth and they don't need me slamming it home for them.
It's a work in progress.
I'm learning assertiveness right now. You don't have to be bitchy to be assertive.
It seems that I must be adjusting some to this bipolar baseline and just accepting. I have noticed that my compassion level has gone up in the last year...people used to trigger me more. Now 50% of the times when I used to get annoyed..other thoughts go thru my mind that are positive and more merciful. I sure hope this continues.
I truly think we go thru stages. They aren't the fastest for us all. But things do change. I believe that can bring hope.
I feel there is no reason to make some other person's day more yukky. I try to see if I can say the good thing first and then wrap things up Like I said before and remove myelf.
Perhaps using the term bitchy wasn't the right choice? I don't know. Everyone has a different take on what that word means, which is the case with most words.
When I get bitchy it's after I've exhausted all other ways of responding nicely to a bad situation. Basically I get fed up with watching people hurt themselves or others, and I lose my patience. I will note that I don't just walk around running my mouth, but if I've gotten to this point and someone asks my opinion I'll tell them the truth as I see it. Often it's not what they want to hear and they get mad or offended.
I don't like hurting peoples feelings, but I won't lie either. I don't know if that makes me bitchy or not. Maybe I should just start staring at people blankly and saying "No comment" when they ask what I think...
I years there is a difference between stating the truth and being mean-spirited.....
I strive not to be impolite but I don't always succeed!
There's nothing wrong with being angry. Anger, properly harnessed and directed, can be a great motivator towards success in many aspects of life. Just try to leave the innocent out of the kill zone...in other words either take the emotion and make it drive you...or drive it through and home to the person who is pissing you off.
Stuffing this explosive emotion is not the way to deal with it...unless it's your boss and or the hand that feeds you. In such cases you must have a creative release, like sports, crafts...or sex.
Personally I prefer a woman more prone to anger than bitchiness...as long as she's not pissed at me it's a win win situation.
Oh...and I probably don't have to say this but it has been said that women are becoming more violent in their behaviour...I'm sure that's just a generalization as much as it is about men...but violence can only lead to more of the same...do restrain yourself. };-)>
~peace out...in~
Away from work I am gracious but again people that have no common sense send me off the deep end. My friend always reminds me. "There lies Christ". I can sometimes take a step back and put the mouth filter back on but sometimes it's all I can do not ask them..."how were you not eaten by wolves as a small child?.
Damn...I guess I am a bitch. Oh well. I gotta be me!
