I've been tapering down my medications on my own. I have been medicated since I was 17 and nothing really works. I just want to know what life is like without medication.

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

just be careful!
Having these thoughts pop up yearly, for no reason - helps me KNOW it part of my illness.
Your meds must have helped - yesterday your thread was stressed, but you shared huge amounts of accomplishments. Yes, its a bad idea -lying to your pdoc, manipulating, taking them wrong. I mean if your not taking enough, its not going to work - might as well me aspirin.
So if your tapering your meds, and yesterday you shared your a mess LOL, could it be - because your messing with them?
100% everyone of us have thought this often. Meds work, when you don't think about them. Imagining a pill is going to fill out a job application? Not going to happen, meds give us a chance to Work on destructive thoughts and behaviors!
I wish you luck, you are absolutely - human, and this is a natural and predictable thing! Have you thought of asking your doctor to stop and start over? ((((BIG HUG))))
If you are bipolar bear in mind the meds don't work 100% in my personal experience - I'd hate to think what it would be like off them now though.
guess it must be some sort of html command or something. uh. :(
Then I 'come to', take a look back, realize the destruction, and say to myself," WTF was I thinking !?"
Point being, I slipped back into denial when I was feeling somewhat stable (as a result of taking my meds as prescribed).
That's just MY experience ...
It's akin to stopping antibiotics too soon... feeling better, many of the bugs are destoyed, but the ones that aren't fester, multiply, and grow resistant to the medication that , if was taken for the entire course, would have cured the problem.
I don't think I'll be cured of bipolar in this lifetime, but the evidence states that this bipolar CAN be managed, and its most destructive symptoms calmed, to lead a somewhat manageable life.
... just MY belief.
Easy, go have a fresh pair of eyes - a second opinion, it will either confirm or give you another - direction : )
Even if you are not bipolar you need to withdraw slowly.
But get that second opinion.
I often wish I didn't need meds, they are getting harder to get.
I'd say get a second opinion on your dx, but it's hard to tell
what you are like unmedicated since you've been on meds
for so long. I hope it all works out for you. Big Hugs
