Anyone??
I ask because I've been on SSDI for 2 years now and am only 41yo. It was an extremely hard transition to make, I've worked since I was 15yo and took alot of pride in everything I did. I still have trouble with being on disability at such a young age. I am grateful though, I wouldn't have survived if I didn't get it. I was just wondering if there is anyone who possilby got more stable and was able to return to work???
I think about going back to work, thought I doubt it would be as a nurse. Too hi-stress. I was actually making it one of my main goals, getting back to work that is, but decided to put it on the back burner and work on me while given this opportunity to do so. Anyway......anyone??

Here in Detroit there are no jobs so I created one starting a dog walking service for local business'. ( I walk my dog on their property for security) It has had its ups and downs. I have a good friend who works cheap 2-5 nights a week depending on how I am doing. I know I could not have kept it up on my own.
With Dr appts and mood swings I could never have kept a regular job needing so much time off. This was one of the reasons for my disability going through was even at a full time job with appts. I would only be able to work part time. Reality sucks.
Without SSD though I don't think I would have had the time to work on becoming stable. like you say too much stress and not enough time working on "me".
Since you are allowed to make some income on SSD I would try something real part time and flexable first, or even just volunteering where it is real flexable.
Best wishes =)
I have a good friend who actually was on SSDI for 16 years, and has successfully transitioned back into employment just over a year ago. But it took time for him.
Either way, do what's best for You. :):)
I think walking dogs is a great idea! That's great that you made that happen nobody. I've been thininking of doing some volunteer work, to get back into the social groove of life. But I want to wait until I have more than a week of stable mood.
I know I have a loooong haul, I've not been anywhere near stable for years. The Abilify is really helping and I am just praying that is keeps doing it's thing. I know it won't make life perfect, but liveable is nice!
I want to play and have fun, but eventually....BOOM!!!
hugs
