Its up to the patient to make sure they don't. Overuse means using the medication outside of or in abundance of the amount prescribed. You don't seem to be doing that.
Benzo's like Ativan are addictive so you'll likely create a physical dependency to the drug if you use it everyday, but if it works and helps you and your Pdoc thinks you should be using it, then you're doing nothing wrong. Just don't take it for a long period of time and then suddenly "stop", that can cause problems.
Benzodiazepines have a tendency to become addictive. Be careful.
I get the feeling that what people are feeling as anxiety is actually low level hypomania and so simply sedating them doesn't deal with the underlying issue.
Unfortunately people often find they need to take more and more. Long term use has been linked to cognitive impairment.
. Benzo's are now a controlled substance due to addiction.... I would just be aware of how much you're taking
