Approved for SSDI but what about insurance?

I have recently been approved for SSDI , but being bipolar I am afraid that it will be hard to find medical insurance.. I am not really worried about mental health insurance because I will be making enough from SSDI to cover that. I am just concered if something happens like a broken leg or something like that. Any suggestions? I know medicare don't kick in till 2 years, or thats what I have been told...

I am in the process of trying to upgrade my military discharge and to get service related disability for my bp. If I win it I will get insurance and compensation. but then i will apply for SSDI and should get it finally...have already applied twice and was denied. So, I am praying that it happens...I will have to wait 8mths for an answer.

my cousin was granted SSDI in december and last week received his medicare card retroactive to the court date, call your attorney.

Apply for Medicaid.

Yeah it is state health insurance, but it works in a pinch. All my meds, doc visits, even recent physical therapy are covered. Oh, therapy is covered for six months as well.

I applied through DSHS (Dept Health & Social Services). They put you through many of the same steps as SSI. I am on what is called "Disablity Medicaid". According to the state of WA I am disabled and not capable of working. They re-check once a year.
