Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Tmac, I sooo, deal with rage issues. I was nearly arrested the last time I quit my job. I threw coffee mugs at starbuck's customers. I hate it, too. mostly because I usually have a great reason for being angry...someone is often being taken advantage of and this is why I continue in treatment. I know I have something valid to offer but it gets lost in my 'crazy'....I know how hard it can be to be forgiving of yourself, but keep at it. It is the most important and most noble work a person can undertake (in my humble opinion ;)
If you have a therapist, work to discover the source. I wish you the best. xo
For the most part I have a double-edged tongue~~I am not one to resort to cursing~~but I can be painfully unscrupulous in my assessment of a situation or individual which is far worse most of the time.
A few times I have thrown things but not at someone. I got really pissed with my toaster oven one morning and picked it up and threw it out on my front lawn and then I kicked it to the curb.
It was actually quite embarrassing because once the rage began to subside I realized that my Pastor who lived several houses down the street and who regularly ran with his dog in the mornings was standing across the street just watching me.
He very cautiously said, "Good morning," and asked me if I was okay, and I said, "Do I look okay?" Then I stormed back into my house slamming the door.
When I came home later that evening, my toaster oven was sitting in the swing on my front porch with a note that said, 'It is scratched and dented, but I cleaned it up and it still works. P.S. I didn't see anything."
That was a wake up call for me.
I have not yet found a great anger management tactic. I also have acute anxiety, so I'm using a tranquiliser and a beta blocker, which both do help. Maybe you should talk to your pdoc about something like that.
sine i have been on lithium, my anger has subsided alot, the combination of lithium and zyprexa has really helped me with the anger...i feel like i'm hardly ever angry anymore...here's to the meds..and here's to the fact that i probably should be angry at my family but am not anymore....xoxo, maggie
