I'm taking 25mg of Seroquel before bedtime every night. I'm usually busy during the day and don't get home until 11pm every night. So I take it then, and it knocks me out in an instant. Apparently, I don't wake up for EXACTLY 12 hours after I take my meds.. and I feel totally groggy the next day. I talked to my doctor about it and she told me to split it in half. So I do that, and I wake up super early (regardless of what time I take seroquel), feeling extra groggy, I end up falling asleep after that.. resulting in awakening at 2pm everyday.
My tolerance for Seroquel is extremely low..
AND
During nights when I try not taking it, I can't sleep! Has my body become dependent on these meds?
I've heard about Melatonin and how it's worked for a lot of people. I think I might start that. I know it's a natural supplement, but are there any side effects with that?
I have some Zyprexa stored in my med box but that's TOTALLY a different story.. haha.

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

Good luck!

I used to take melatonin many years ago but it didnt do what I had hoped it would do at that time. Apparently its maximum effect (according to my neurologist) occurs after 2-4 hours (who knows?), so he advised the following: since I was taking Trazodone 100 mg., two pills at bedtime already (prescribed by the shrink for insomnia (falling asleep)) he said to just take one, but WITH a melatonin. That was fine with me since tha Trazodone was making me virtually comatose within 30 minutes. This way with half the dose I'd get early onet help with sleep and then the melatonin would kick in---longer time asleep. With Trazodone alone, though, I was wide awake in 2 hours. Ahem...er...I havent actually tried the melatonin this way, but I'm getting a bottle today and will let you know.
It also makes you fat at higher doses.
Sorry it is making you groggy. Are you using it as a sleeping pill? It is an anti-psychotic and mood stabilizer.
Melatonin is a chemical we already have in our brains. It doesn't produce as much as we get older. I tried it and it did not work for me. My doc said it will either work for you or it won't. If you try it, make sure you talk with your doc. You also need to be consistent with it. It may take a month or so to work.
Good Luck
