I also have bpolar 2, but most of the time the mood's are low. I may not have the right combination of med's though. I have racing thought's and to me it is my mind seem's to jump from subject , and if I'm talking to someone then it show's up in my speech and i get funny looks from people who don't understand me. once I was put on lithium and had a bad reaction to it. i was dizzy and just felt awful. I got off of it fast. Maybe the dose was too high.

Sounds like your meds are working pretty good. That's great!

I was diagnosed BP2 eight years ago. I have a hard time dealing with stressful or depressing situations. It is magnified like 20X more than how others feel in those situations. I love the hypomania, even though I am very irritable. I'm on great meds and am in the middle a lot of the time. I do tend to catastrophize a lot.

My pdoc put me on Visteral for nerves - it's a little milder than most sedatives so it doesn't make me look like I've been taking downers. Keeps the panic attacks at bay.

I'm bipolar 2. My cycles tend to be weeks to months of depression with a week or so of hypomania. I have a lot of stressors which exacerbate my symptoms- stressful job, marital issues, etc... But one of the main ones has been missing sleep. For some reason this is a major trigger for me and no matter what it leads to an episode. I was on Zoloft for a while for the depression and then I had TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) treatments after a particularly bad episode. Since then I have been able to stay relatively stable with just a high dose of lithium alone. I take zyprexa as a rescue med when I am starting to cycle and it lessens the severity of the episode. I see a therapist once a week and am searching around for a support group for additional support. It really isn't easy. I find that people tend to dismiss my symptoms because it's not the type of bipolar they see on tv. The scariest part for me is how I can feel ok one day and then planning my death the next. I am only recently feeling more stable. I hope it last. I get hit pretty hard with the depression and I had a bad hypo manic episode back in march that lasted two weeks and it landed me in the hospital. I am on a high dose of lithium to. Good luck to you to.

I'm BP2 and I've only been hypomanic 2x. I'm mostly depressed, from feeling sad and crying to being suicidal. My mood swings come more often than my husband who is BP1. Life can get annoying when you make plans and you wake up feeling like it's the end of the world. But meds do help and I just remind myself it will pass.

I was diagnosed with Bipolar II in 2008. I have Manic episodes. I can be happy and on top of the world one minute, where I can do anything and everything. The house is super clean, all the laundry is done, I worker harder, and everything makes me happy. Before I know it the little's thing can bring me down and there is nothing that will make me feel better. I go into my fazes of crying all day long, off and on. Want to shut the world out and just sleep my day away. Feel like the world is coming to an end. I am worth nothing and put myself down.
I take Welbutrin and Lamectal, But I think I am going to ask my Dr. to switch my meds or something. This would be the third time in 4 years that it had to be adjusted.

I knew something was wrong since I was about 11 or 12. I am an achiever, but sometimes spent days in bed. After college, I lost a few jobs for not showing up. My dad was an alcoholic, and when I was seeking treatment, I asked his first wife why he was discharged from the Army, and she said he simply refused to get out of bed for a week - so familiar. I have tried a LOT of meds (but never Lithium, not really indicated for BP2). Currently getting by on Seroquel/Zoloft, but thinking about trying Lamictal. I have intense financial stress taking care of my sick wife who can't work and won't apply for disability (but soon she can "retire"). I drink a fair amount of beer, sometimes something stronger. But I'm not a substance-addictive type. I have found peer support through DBSA to be VERY helpful; it's always amazing to hear about people who are WORSE OFF THAN YOU. Kind of puts things in perspective, and then maybe you can even help them too. Sometimes my depression is so bad it manifests as severe arthritic pain in my back and knees (alcohol helps with that too). I'm not advocating booze, I'm just reporting how I cope. I am currently earning 6 figures as a computer programmer and I love my work. I have an amazing 23 year old daughter who grew up right, despite us being homeless for most of her teens.
