you are among friends here.
I understand your situation but I'm not sure what you described qualifies it's self to being anti social.
true anti social is me, I don't like socializing and try to avoid it at all costs. Probably because I'm a natural psychologist with a strong dash of control freak. For me socializing is exhausting.
Any how back to your OP, I think the problem is in your case that you are trying to socialize with the wrong people for you. It's not that I don't promote people expanding their horizons by trying to socialize with people from other cultures, or languages and or who are just not like you in general, but I think the problem is that it's hard to have a conversation with some one who feels that you have nothing in common with them. You wanted to discuss things he either didn't understand or wasn't interested in.
Also language barriers are a problem too! If you can't even understand what the other person is saying then there is no point in trying to have a deep and meaningful conversation. You have start with the basic's first in that case which is learning the language.
I also find that with online socializing it's a whole different ball game. You could be chatting with any one and you have no idea who they are for one thing. But also remember that this is the World wide web, you may be trying to converse with some one from another country with a totally different culture. This makes it hard since there may be some things in the other persons culture that you were ignorant on so you didn't understand where they were coming from and vice verse.
So the problem may not be your social skills, it might be that you are now traveling a world where you don't know the rules, or navigation yet. And that world is the internet.
But don't feel bad you aren't alone. The number of people trying to branch out and use the internet is on the rise and many of them don't even understand that the rules of real life don't apply here. You have to be internet savvy enough or you will encounter little problems like this often. And the number of people I meet have similar complaints like this all the time.
But I think this is a good form to start on, since many people here have a different perspective to offer, and are patient, non judgmental, and some are even in the same boat.
I also think you will find many friends here.
I don't know.
I understand it is hard to pin point which one is the problem and it could be a combination of both.
Just be patient and maybe when he is more talkative you can ask him about it. For now you might want to try finding another friend to chat with.
Take care xxoo
Couldn't sleep I guess...or I had the munchies...much like my expereince with Seroquel.
