I’ve never been on those meds but have had to taper and switch around meds on multiple occasions and it’s always been different. Sorry you’re dealing with it. I don’t know if you have access to a therapist but extra therapy sessions and even touch base short appointments by phone helped to reassure me when I needed it most. Big ((((hugs))))

Rexulti works on less Dopamine Receptors in the brain than Vraylar does, so if you're cross tapering, and tapering slowly off Rexulti in small dosages you shouldn't be having withdrawal symptoms as Vraylar covers all of the Dopamine and Serotonin Receptors and more than Rexulti does.

If you taper by too large down by too large amounts sometimes your brain can have withdrawals until it has time to process and accept the new Anti-psychotic. 2 weeks out is a little long for withdrawals to set in, but everyone it different. If it continues talk to your Pdoc.

At .5mg the Rexulti is at a negligible amount and could be stopped. If they are withdrawals, there's not much to do at this point other than see them through. Drink lots of fluids, use ibuprofen for the body aches, hot baths, heating pads.

I'm slowly weaning off the rexulti from 4mg to .5mg currently, and increasing vraylar at the same time from 1.5 to 4.5 currently.

I see the pdoc Monday and will ask about possible rexulti withdrawal side effects.

I took about 13 medications over about 9 years’ time. This medication list included four antipsychotics (Risperdal Consta, Invega, Abilify, and Latuda). I do think that your body has to adjust from being on these medications, to when you wean off of them, and no longer have them in your system. A Doctor could verify this, but I think your body needs to go through an adjustment phase. Your brain and body have been affected by having these drugs in your system, and you will go through a discontinuation phase. The drugs will gradually be removed from your system, and this will take some time. I experienced abnormal muscle spasms in my body when taking antipsychotics, and after I stopped taking these, the abnormal bodily spasms seemed to dissipate.

It works differently when your tapering off one anti-psychotic and tapering on a different anti-psychotic at the same time. Your brain is never without the same basic pharmacology of the Anti-psychotic med, so you don't go into full withdrawal as if you were just stopping the medication.
