Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
The main benefits, which are crucial ones, you will get, are:
1)You will have fewer and less severe episodes of depression and/or mania. You will still have some.
2)The incidence of suicide is reduced significantly. (I lost my oldest son that way, and he was not even diagnosed, but looking back, it is pretty evident that he was)
Some people manage to get by without medication. But their quality of life is significantly lower than they would be on medication. Even though there are some trade-offs, the severity of this condition warrants the need for meds. It will also help those close to you - friends, family, and coworkers be able to have a better relationship with you as well.
So you may come to a time when you will need to make a more critical decision about whether or not to take meds.
I know he loved us, but didn't get to feel it much.
I just don't want anything like that to happen to others if I can help them see that.
