Hey, do not drink alcohol at all while taking the meds you are on. On the pamphlet it says no alcohol! Sorry, hope you have a great time still being sober you can be the designate driver.

I am a true alcoholic and I've learned I can't drink on meds at all. The thought of doing it now scares me I became so depressed that I tried to commit suicide and ended up in rehab. I've been sober for three years now and work hard to stay that way, I give all the credit to God I could never have stopped on my own trust me I have allot of experience in this matter.

I have been sober for almost 2 years and I used to drink on my meds all the time, it didn't do anything good for me except make me delusional and suicidal. Fortunatully, I went to rehab and I have slow been able to rebuild my life and put the pieces back together. I stay closely connected to my AA group and a God of my understanding which has helped me take the complusion to drink away and I am truly grateful.

I find my meds make drinking not fun anymore. I just get tired. It sucks.

You are not supposed to drink while on psychotropic medications. Take it from me and my state of mind: it makes things a million times worse and I have had but two cocktails. I feel like calling things quits. Meds or not, if you have a mental issue, booze only makes it worse. Wish I could go back in time and have not drank tonight.

Just don't mix it with anything that makes you tired like sleeping pills. That can make you quit breathing. Check with you pdr. Check with the pharmacist. Include the over the counter medication too.

i finally had to learn my lesson the hard way! i drank way too much this week (that's about 2-3 drinks 2x this week). i feel awful today...almsot suicidal. i am sure it's because of the alcohol. i can get away with a drink or two, but maybe once a month. good thing the holidays are finally over with. lesson learned!

Alcohol is my least favorite drug so I don't use it, but I know that ALL drugs interact with each other, so it depends on what meds you are taking now as to just how the addition of alcohol to the cocktail (pun intended) will affect you.
I know that any amount of alcohol (or any other drug) will affect how well your meds work. It's all a choice.

I don't think the occasiona drink is bad for most people. I was a functional alcoholic before I realized that it was bad for being on meds. Took me a long time to quit...5 years all of which was spent in AA. Finally achieved some longer sobriety and it's been a little over a year. Haven't felt better. I realized I drank to self-medicate...to relax and escape from stress...to make myself happy. The problem with alcohol and other drugs is that the pdocs have no way of quantifying how much you are using so it makes their job harder when prescribing meds...in other words you are already using a drug (alcohol) when you go and see them but they don't know how much you are taking so they have a hard time prescribing. That and many of the drugs given don't react well with alcohol...they can even be deadly.

To be honest, I have the occasional martini. But other than that, I HATE ALCOHOL!! My father is an alcoholic and won't admit it. He tries to bring up other drugs he says are worse.

Today I told him I could go a whole year without drinking alcohol. He said he could too. I said okay why don't you start tomorrow? He said he wasn't going to. He had nothing to prove. Just knowing he could do it was enough. WHAT THE FUCK??? Do you know how much alcoholics piss me off? WAKE UP DAD!!! Stop with the fucking denial.

I read a study regarding bp and drinking. They found that moderate drinkers (two drinks a day) did just as well as the non-drinking group. So I would say no more than two drinks.
