Hi....You need to see a psychologist who can help to diagnose you. Mood swings, staying up all night, and feeling depressed are just a few symptoms of bi-polar. Don't wait you will need treatment soon. Hope this helps! CR

You are not insane. You might need a physical examination with lab work. I am finding out that my thyroid could be the root of depression, mood swings, etc. I am diagnosed as bipolar but I don't agree with the diagnosis. Just a suggestion Blissed.

Thank you. I do have thyroid issues but it's been stable and I take my medication.

Maybe it's time for more lab work but I just can't move right now.

What a nightmare.

The appointment should lead to a diagnosis.

Diagnosis leads to a treatment plan.

Treatment leads to a better life.

You're going to be okay. In 1992 I was hospitalized in the psych ward. They said I was psychotic when I arrived. My boss actually brought me there and stayed for the intake. I didn't want to stay but I did and it was the best thing for me. I had a new boyfriend who stuck by me. Things will get better. Take your medicine. I take thyroid medicine too and have for 40 years but I have almost every symptom of an underactive thyroid. I have been following a doctor named Daniel Amen who has been on Dr. Phil. He's on Facebook and has great blogs. According to him, my doctor is not doing the right tests. I am seeing my nurse practitioner on Tuesday. I am going to ask her to get more specific bloodwork. I am remembering that she wanted to order bloodwork years ago and I don't remember if I had it done or not. So look into the symptoms and see if you are still having problems. Maybe you should have a nice cup of hot tea to calm your nerves tonight. Keep us posted.

It maybe EUPD ( Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder. The symptoms you describe sound very similar. I'm not a doctor though so please take it with a pinch of salt.

You say you have mood swings? Are they in one day, up and down? Or do you have distinct periods of depression and distinct periods of mania or hypomania?

Are your mood swings directly related to relationships? Or can they come on for no apparent reason?

Big hug Blissed ..... It's great that you have an appt with a pdoc..... CPTSD and Bipolar and some of the same symptoms and fortunately symptoms can be treated ... So no matter what the eventual diagnosis will be you can be helped.... xo
