Advise please?

I'm suppose to finally have an appt with a new therapist tomorrow and was looking to make an appt with a new pdoc. I'm without one right now. Well, my husband is putting his two weeks notice in so that means in two weeks...no insurance....he has another job lined up but that insurance won't be available for 90 days!!! Boy do i feel screwed now! What bad timing.

Should i just cancel the appt with the therapist, what good will just one appt do? I'm feeling ok right now but what happens when i run out of meds...maybe i will cut them in half so i won't be completely without for 3 months?? I have enough to last me for 2 months i think. Life hands me lemons and i hate lemons.

Phoenix, When my husband changed jobs, the insurance carried over from his old job. The old job gave him the option to carry it until the new job started up. We had to pay for it, but there was no lapse in the coverage. Have you checked to see if this is an option for you? MK

Dont give up the appt....take what you can while you can and tell her your situation. She may be able to help you get meds or have ideas in the meantime........xo

Go, go, go to the doc before they cancel your insurance. make sure you fill those scripts for your meds. Tell the new doc about your insurance. He won't go for you taking your meds like that(in half) and can maybe help you out with a script. It's worth mentioning it to him. I wish you the best.XO

I will check with my GP...i doubt they will give me a 3 mo supply but its worth a shot...i think i kind of freaked without thinking of my options..which several ppl hae suggested some good ones..the therapist i see tomorrow is just an LPC she can't prescribe my meds, but I'll go to see her anyway and hope it helps.

Are you getting your meds from your GP now sweetie??.. if you can get in to see him quickly and ask for a 3 or 4 month script.. that will hold you over until your insurance kicks in.. perhaps he/she could help you by giving you drug samples...xo

There's no reason not to give it to you.. it's legal.. as long as he knows you there shouldnt be a problem sweetie..x

One appointment is perfect to meet the new therapist and see if you like each other. Then, when you have insurance lined up in a couple of months, you'll know if you want to return.

Hun hang in there, there is always rough pathes in life and sometimes we think we will never get through but somehow we do.

Go see your therapist.. when i saw my pdoc it made a huge difference just from 1 session.. you can tell your therapist what you just told us here i'm sure they wouldn't let you go without meds! that's stupid.

I know here in australia they do everything they can for people with mental health problems and make them cheaper for us.. hell my meds are like 266$ but i pay 5.99$ being on government thing..
but when i get a job it will be hard paying 266$ for 3 months!

Can u go to mental health facility that is what my brother did. They have a sliding scale.

I would definitely keep your appts. especially with the pdoc. He/she might be able to write you out a script for a 3-month supply, like the others have said, until you can return with your new insurance. And also do check out the carrying over of your husband's insurance. Don't know if you guys can do it, but it's worth looking in to. Good luck to you honey!

    Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
