My pdoc tansitioned me from Wellbutrin to Effexor almost 2 weeks ago. The nausea has been the worst I have ever experienced. I am having a very difficult time eating, and recently the nause has gotten so bad that I'm barely drinking, as well. I've tried peppermint tea. I've been using peppermint essential oil like you would a smelling salt, and that does give me temporary relief, but only briefly. I know everyone says ginger is the "go to" for nausea, but my system can't tolerate it, and it makes me vomit. I also read that simply smelling a freshly cut lemon can ease nausea and that lemon in warm water also helps. My digestive system is so fragile right now that acids, like in juice, really bother my stomach, so the lemon in water probably wouldn't be a good option for me. I have to eat with several of my meds, including the newly added Effexor, and I am struggling with that greatly. It took me an entire day yesterday to choke down 1 banana. My mom gave me a few Zofran, (prescription nausea medication), but it only takes the edge off for a couple hours, without restoring any hunger. Any ideas or tips you can give me about nausea would be greatly, greatly appreciated.
