My 9 year old son has mood disorder, ADHD and ODD. There are very few things in this world that he gets attached to. One of those few things was his cat.
A few hours ago, he witnessed her getting hit by a car and watched her die. I cry for his loss, but am at an utter loss as to what to say to him. I've said things like "she is watching over you now", "she went to cat heaven", "remember the good times and not what you saw".
I know this is all too fresh in his memory for him to forget what he saw, and he will likely never forget it. I just don't have the words to express what he should do. I've told him to cry as much as he wants, talk to me whenever he wants, wake me up if he needs me.
That's all I got.

Some things we don't talk about, we breathe them... Some things cannot be explained, but rather experienced. Some of the most healing moments arise when given the memory, acknowledging the love. One cannot go back in time; we move forward, and we carry the love we shared. No one but ourselves has the power to do so, or the permission to do so, but ourselves. So live life with your faith and...

I've been feeling like I don't matter my wife the other day instead of telling me she was having a pain day when I went to have sex with her she tell me afterwards that she having pain day due to her fribromyalgia and making feel like shit afterward saying she has a list of things from past 9 years of thing for me to do and is always adding more and more to this list and talk...

She knew he was under there came and got me and asked me to get him. I brought the body out and tried my dammdest to explain death to a 3 year old. It was winter but there were a few wildflowers left so she picked them and I dug a hole in frozen ground and we had a funeral in the back yard
My sympathies to both you and your son
Just be honest and listen to him then things will eventually work out. There is no easy fix for him.
Use this as an ideal time to educate him because you have his attention due to the loss.
Too soon for closure, but he will, hopefully you have pics of the good times with his cat that you can share and reminisce.
I'll be thinking of you guys whilst going through this traumatic experience. It also reminds us of our own mortallity, which is why we should pay our respects, but move on in due time, its what Gindle would have wanted.
Grief is a process and it will take time... he needs to let it out and will need time to move forward...xo
Your both in my heart, and even the kitty ((((BIG HUG)))))
This worked for me as a kid....it was closure in a way.
...I think I'll just go home...I can't get anything right today.
He will learn from this experience and be a better person from it.
Sadness will be normal, all you can do is support him, and ask him how he would like to do with the remains....
Just be there.... thats all you can do.
